I feel like I'm the only one who thinks the alternative ending is sorta goofy. I get that she may have been the Alpha's queen, and they want her back… BUT.. They wouldn't just take the woman back and then leave Lil Willy go. They weren't peaceful creatures. They hunted and consumed humans.
Idk how true this is but someone told me in the books they’re not actually zombies. It’s evolution of humans and the “cure” as they call it, just sped up the process. They don’t actually eat humans, they just live their own lives not bothering anyone. The only reason they attack Will smith’s character is because he kidnapped one of their own. Once again idk how true this is. Makes me want to look it up now 😂
I think i just saw an alternate ending of this movie, the one i saw it was not that. As i remember Will Smith gives the serum to Anna and instructing her, how it can save humanity and then letting her escape from a secret door and then he blew himself while charging towards dark seekers.
What the hell? I preferred this one, don't get me wrong, but I'm not mad to think that the lab was blown to pieces by Mr hero Smith, after giving the girl a vial of 'cured' blood..? Ah well, I much preferred this version.

The correct ending was that he blew up the lab with him and the darkseekers inside of it. After shoving the woman and child in a space that they would be unaffected by the blast and handing her the cure. The woman and boy go on to Vermont, where there is a government base that is safe for them. The woman gives the people in charge the cure for the virus, and they begin to turn the darkseekers back to humans.
Will loved the dog so much that he wanted to adopt her after the movie. The trainer turned down his offer, but it's still cute that he bonded with the dog so much on set. Not all actors have good chemistry with their nonhuman costars.

Best novel ever written. Most atrocious adaption. The ending was the official movie ending was the total opposite of the book. Missing the point of the whole story. Awful awful trash.
Never got to finish this movie back then. Later I heard he ended up dying and that made me to refrain from watching it even more. But with this ending, I feel much better.

They are not zombies they are supposed to be vampires. Though this book was the original inspiration of the hollywood zombie.

It's so sad, he ended up marring one of these bald monsters. And worse yet, it cheated on him with his son's friend… He deserves better
