Yes…Carrie was Kings first book. His wife Tabitha actually rescued it when King threw it in the trash. Major first book success…3 movie versions and a notorious Broadway musical flop later…it's a classic!

Daphnie du Maurier is one of my favorite writer, definitely overlooked and under-rather nowadays, which is sad. Great feminist writer with mixed with horror, she can make a fine line between: "oh she is a b*tch or is she?" or these men are terrible and use her. ( at least how I read it)
Check out The apple tree if its in the book, it's soooo good and The old man, which is like: WHAT?! in a good way.

55:47 I watched it I turned it off around 15-20 minutes before the ending, it's too long and slow, yeah not age well you right Avaryl. Great performances

Edit: Also, after doing some digging on genealogy sites, it turns out Ed Gein's dad took on a portmanteau of sorts from his parents John Gee & Maria Catharine Dingeldein. Gee + Dingeldein = Gein. So, it's not of any ethnic origin really, which means the commonly accepted pronunciation of "g-een" is likely the right one. It was a fun little rabbit hole.

I love Stephen King but I watched the shining once and will never do it again i love many of his other movie and books but the shining is just so fucking long and nothing happens until the last 30 minutes of this over 3 hour long movie.
