Dumbo, a popular attraction for a popular film has been a staple of guest visits since it first took flight, but it hasn’t always been its present location. Originally, it was located in front of Casey Jr’s Railroad, but was moved in the 1983 redesign of Fantasyland.

The Disneyland Rocket Jets were a popular attraction located in Tomorrowland. The ride, atop the old PeopleMover platform allowed guests to soar high above the park. Modeled after the futuristic designs of the 1960s, featuring sleek silver and white towers with rocket-shaped cars that rotate around the center. Like Dumbo, riders could control the height of their rocket jet by pulling or pushing on a lever, allowing them to take in the sights of Disneyland from a different perspective.
The Disneyland Phantom Boats, which opened in 1955, were a boating attraction located in the area between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland section of the park. It featured boats that traveled through a small lagoon, but was quickly closed and replaced with another nearby boat attraction which survived until 1993.
The Original Disneyland Submarine Voyage was a popular attraction at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. It opened in 1959 as part of the park’s Tomorrowland area. The ride took guests on a journey through an underwater world filled with sea life, shipwrecks, and other sights. The attraction featured innovative special effects and animatronics, including an encounter with a giant octopus. This Submarine Voyage closed in 1998.
The Sky Buckets were another popular attraction at Disneyland. The Sky Buckets offered a unique and scenic way to travel, and enjoy aerial views of the park while riding in the buckets. The attraction was a classic and beloved part of the Disneyland experience.
The Mike Fink Keelboats – inspired by an episode of Walt Disney’s hit series Davy Crockett – were a beloved attraction that added one more layer of movement to the Rivers of America. However, it proved to be a little too much movement, and eventually one of the boats capsized which led to the attraction’s closure.
The flying saucers are an attraction at Disney has tried twice – once in Disneyland, and once with Luigi’s Flying Tires during the opening of Carsland at Disney’s California Adventure.
The PeopleMover was a popular attraction in Tomorrowland – a transportation system that consisted of a series of small trains that traveled on an elevated track throughout the attractions of the land. The PeopleMover was known for its smooth, relaxing ride and its ability to give riders a bird’s-eye view of the eastern side of the park. It’s replacement, the Rocket Rods, never really took off – and left tracks now too challenging to deal with…
Finally we have the changes to Splash Mountain. Controversial from the start, it remains to be seen what the public’s ultimate reaction will be when the new attraction – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – opens. What is your opinion? Is the change needed or a nod to political correctness?

thank you so much for such an informative video showing all the changes made throughout the years, this video with the footage and way you addressed everything was so well done but then thats the awesome way of Brickey isnt it 😉 i have my own feelings on the splash mountain issue and probably not the popular opinion… i think its a BIG mistake, but lets hope justice is done but enough is enough on Tiana.. there are other princesses that are important… Snow White who started it all for example. i will Always have a love for Disney no matter and i get change has to be made i only hope more magic returns and they keep the people in mind as they do it, not the pocket book… Disney loved seeing families happy… thank you again Brickey for all you do to bring and show the world of Disney the way you do 😘

As far as Splash Mt. Closing I don’t like the idea but… it’s probably because I don’t like change. But I get it. Thanks Brickey for the awesome work you do, you’re the most underrated Disneyland vlogger and I mean that as a compliment.
Hey Brickey! great documentary on the subject matter. A couple of these like Splash Mountain and the Peoplemover could go on and on… Saddest part on Splash Mountain is that with careful modification to the entrance and wait lines, they missed a great opportunity to teach some real history and promote inclusion. The ride itself was on the animated stories that had more to do with West African slave's moral tales in the likes of Aesop's Fables, than to the inaccurate Antebellum South live action part of the movie.

I always thought the skyway closed because of concerns over what might have happened if the Northridge earthquake had occurred during operating hours
Brickey, thank you for exploring all different view points on the closure of Splash Mountain and not focusing on one sole view point. I love it when creators don’t try to persuade their audience one way or another, and actually try to understand all sides. At the end of the day, we can’t always have a zipa-dee-doo-dah perfect world, and as long as we’re understanding of each other regardless on what end of the spectrum we’re at… I think we’re heading in the right direction. What unites us all is our continued love of Disneyland! Great video as always!👏🏻

The closing of Splash Mountain is highly disappointing. People are so weak and offended by things these days, it's doesn't matter if the history behind those things is good.
As a black man, I love Song of The South. It was also the movie that shared the honor of the first black person to ever win an Oscar.
But again, white liberals (who are the real racists) would rather erase black history because it offends them.

I'm seeing a trend here. A LOT in Tomorrowland. Not surprising. And despite all the work they've done on it over the years. But it needs a LOT more.
I am THRILLED for Tiana! Controversy aside I think this is a great way to add another character that is more relevant into the park. Controversy up front, I'm pro changing it. We still have a lot of work to do to make America truly free and available to all humans.
I was always told the rocket rods were closed because it damaged the track and the area was starting to crack.
As for Splash, yes it's great, but somethings need to change, it's the right move, with new tech and new story I believe the ride will be great and another story to tell about the history of Disneyland.

Wait Song of the South is racism because it show Black people happy and laugh That is the most dumbest thing I have heard
I think they should have taken the Princess and the Frog over to the Pirates island. I am so bummed they are getting rid of Splash Mountain, which is one of my favorite rides. Most didn't even know what Song of the South was and if they did or found out about it, it opened up conversation about that given time period. Healthy conversation is amazing. On another note, I still think it would have been super amazing to put Princess and the Frog over on the island and had like a scavenger hunt of the fireflies for kids and maybe an exclusive dining experience that would have been special ticket based with character experience. It would have been amazing to have had a full band and you have the boat going around the island.
I wish they would just change the splash mountain in Florida and leave the one at Disneyland alone . See if it's the right thing to do . I bet they will regret the change.

Uhhhhh I have such mixed feelings about Splash Mountain. I'm in the nostalgia camp. It just sucks because on the surface you wouldn't even know the deeper story behind it. I think for the late 80's they did a really good job keeping it surface level. It's just a bunch of crazy animals, kind of like Looney Tunes, where the under dog gets the last laugh. That's literally it. And I do think they kind of made some rash decisions on the whole thing. But at the same time, I look at the times I've ridden it. Not a ton because I don't like being wet and cold. I'm a desert rat, so CA is cold to me. I understand the change, but the question I ask, is it necessary? My answer to that is I don't think so. 🤷♀ But I don't know! I'm a freaking white woman in America, so I could never speak for that side or even remotely know how it feels to them. But I am listening, and if that's how they feel, then who the hell am I to say "you're being ridiculous". On the other hand, I do love Tiana and her movie, and I am way stoked to see what they do with it. All new stuff, and it'll probably be really bad ass. That movie is beautiful, and it will translate great onto a ride. It's happening whether we like it or not, so it is, what it is. I'm sure it'll be fine, and we'll all move on with our lives.
I feel so lucky to have gotten a chance to ride the Motorboat Cruise before they went away for good.
I'm fine with the Princess and the Frog. I would have also been fine with Zootopia. Both films have a lot of animals, and fit the critter country theme.
They're going to regret retheming Splash Mountain into Tiana's they really need to put significant disclaimer bookends and Rerelease Song Of The South, pointing out the Oscars and history behind the movie and period represented inside there. I saw it in the last theatrical release in the 1970s and there's nothing scary in it. It's Gone with the wind focused on Sharecropping . Period, end of story. I downloaded it online but never got a chance to watch it.

I am going to have to correct you on several points Splash Mountain is NOT based on Song Of the South (have you ever seen the film) this movie takes place during reconstruction after slavery was an issue, it never mentions slavery. The ride is based on these old stories the Uncle Remus tales not the movie nowhere in the ride is the movie ever mentioned. The Phantom Boats were located in what became the submarine lagoon. The Fantasyland speedboats operated across from the Matterhorn by where you depicted them never in the phantom boat lake, it had a new waterway and a track unlike Phantom Boats. Lastly the Matterhorn was built where in was to hide the tallest unsightly tower for the skyway that was why they went thru it. The tower was having stability issues and it was determined that to repair it would alter the Matterhorn structure and would not end up making financial sense as it would not add value to the park or guest experience. In other words an economic gain Would not be realized, theme parks look at if a costly upgrade will draw guests in order to be worth it.
