Science fiction films have come a long way since 1902’s “A Trip to the Moon.” While many sci-fi movies of yesteryear were considered masterful upon their release, times have most certainly changed. It might still be perfectly fun to watch an old space opera with outdated special effects, but it’s much less enjoyable if it has antiquated views on race, gender, or sexuality.
Whether they don’t understand the concept of consent or feel the need to turn real-life cultures into offensive caricatures, there’s a lot of ways that science fiction films have failed to stand the test of time. These sci-fi movies didn’t age well at all.

Such great movies most of these are. After watching this, makes me want to start my usual Star Wars marathon 😄 haven’t watched The Terminator in a while. Most likely will watch it tomorrow.

I really don’t agree that the story line in Terminator has aged badly. Well, certainly not for the reasons given.
The terminator is written as a completely cold killer, this is emphasised in all the ways described in this video.
Kyle Reese is obsessed with Sarah, that’s plausible story telling for all his actions. Sarah is convinced by Kyle why he is helping her (not abducting her) really early on in the movie. Her character is shown to be very strong and determined in the final parts of the movie.
Also, If your going to rip on Star Wars for being racist I would have mentioned C3PO saying “I can’t abide those Jawas, disgusting creatures”.
I think Louse Tully’s character is more objectified in the film, a male “nerd” (because he is a short accountant that wears glasses) has a crush on a taller woman, how funny that he gets to have sex with her (because that could never happen in real life)….
Pretty offensive to me when I think about it in that way, but I don’t as it’s just a fun comedy!
