Australian Army to replace helicopter fleet with 40 Black Hawks

The federal government will unveil plans to secure 40 new Black Hawk helicopters for the Australian Army.

The $2.8 billion purchase will replace the Defence Force’s troubled fleet of 41 European-made Taipan helicopters.

Head Land Capability at the Department of Defence, Major General Jeremy King, says the Black Hawk has a proven track record for reliability backed with a robust supply chain.

  1. Going to Heaven is easy!

We have all sinned and therefore need to be saved from hell. Believe that Jesus Christ is God and that he died for your sins, was buried, and rose again to have your sins forgiven by God. Salvation (Going to Heaven) is by faith alone in Christ alone without any of our good works. The Bible says “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. STOP WORKING YOUR WAY TO HEAVEN

Do you believe that you are saved by grace and promised heaven because Jesus died for you?
    Yes_ No_.

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” Titus 3:5

  2. So… where's the money coming from! Oh I forgot how silly of me, from the printing press at our expense. I didn't hear the corporate Government, yes I said corporate ask the people or ask them about anything. Just the gay marriage part. Mmmmmm funny that. 😐

  3. The Taipans were a stupid decision and a monumental waste of taxpayer money. Taipans are however gunships, Blackhawks are not. So the ADF still won’t have attack helicopters like the Apache? The real story here is the ADF getting expensive airlift capability in exchange for an effective weapons system.

  4. Lots of cheap surplus equipment floating around the largest illicit arms market since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

At least we can get cheap spare parts from Afghanistan…

This war in EU, is making millionaires in Australia as well.

  5. The blackhawk is now a cast off of the U.S. military. They are buying the new Bell V-280 helicopter. Fly's faster – higher – longer. It is more connected to the digital battlefield space.

No use buying someone else's second hands cast offs. Australia has to now realise we are alone – and being surrounded by water has made our politicians fat – dumb and happy. Ships are now considered slow moving to easily tracked by satellites. That's why Australia's politicians are not in tune with our national security.

The U.S. wants it's helicopter fleet upgraded. As they consider helicopters are the future of the modern battle space. In that they are small – don't need an air field – are can quickly deploy troops.

That's why Australia has to rethink our Navy. Drop the new large ships. Go to the Visby Stealth corvette ship made by Sweden.

We would be better off for the long range nuclear submarines. And the Visby class corvette which is a stealth ship and fast for out littoral waters or coastal waters defense. Norway and Sweden run smaller versions of this design for dropping off troops onto coastal waters undetected.

The Navy would have to consider drones for our defense. To carry missiles – and torpedo's.

Australia's military is not taking note. New weapons mean new tactics and strategy have to worked out now – not when a war starts. Really this deal should changed to the new helicopters the U.S. is deploying. And more then double the number to 100 new helicopters. That is not a large number given the size of the land mass of Australia.

And if a war starts. You need a lot more in a war, given you will lose machines due to operational tempo – and loses from battle damage.

  6. $2.8 Trillion for 40 helicopters works out at $70 million per helicopter!! You can't make this stuff up its just an f…ing helicopter not a jet fighter. This is nothing but a scam played on us by the US MIC and signed off on by corrupt Australian politicians and bureaucrats.
