Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
————–

This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
————-
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
————-
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don’t always put a positive spin on humanshumanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

  1. I minored in world religions and global ethics. That first story may have been written from a western-centric viewpoint, but it still made me cry. I hope there comes a day when the practitioners of all faiths can learn to love one another and coexist in harmony. At the end of the day, we all want to be safe and happy. In a modern world, with the technology to create a post scarcity society on the horizon, things don't have to be a zero-sum-game. The safety and happiness of one person is no longer mutually exclusive of others.

  2. The first story is interesting to me because I can't help but feel that the competition of Earth's gods is what has driven their subjects to such heights of faith. The aliens gods never had to duke it out amongst equals, and they've grown soft having gotten used to always having the advantage.

  3. That's just the War Gods , imagine if they bring their respective entourages along, Angels, Valkyries, Einherjar, Devas, the Red Men, it would be one sided to say the least.

  4. At the continuous setting, where there were escapee photons, those could possibly be channelled to emit at a specific vector and focused on a specific target. It would be a black hole pumped laser. A truly scary point defence weapon.

  5. For the first story, the Alien Gods didn't even grasp the true horror lurking in Humanity's Pantheons. No, I'm not referring to the cosmic horrors of the Old Gods, nor the various greater demons who reside in the corresponding shadow of every faith. I'm referring to the absent shapeless void cultivated by a pernicious and devout lack of faith, contact with which would corrode and consume those gods unaccustomed to it. Atheism. The equivalent to the divine as Death in its shroud is to mortals. The simple assertion that they don't exist.
I also think that Death, as HFY has come to represent it, would have waylaid the approaching Xeno Gods somewhere around the orbit of Pluto and politely informed them of their folly. But, it would be an unimposing figure in a simple shroud, so dire warnings about inevitability would have been ignored by most.

  6. wasn't expecting Anhur to be in the lineup, but then again, as the 'god of the skies' his job was defending the egyptian gods, unless that wasn't the one in which it was suggesting, but it sure sounded like it lol.
