My Father-in-law still won't eat beef to this day because of the BSE scare in the 1990s.
Mate, cows fed to cows fed to pigs fed to chickens fed to us……u never forget the smell of burning livestock or the sight of tough men crying & yards full of bloated dead cattle…I can’t remember how many gallons of diesel, bales of straw or railway sleepers we used to burn them….it changed you.
Lots of good stuff here but there is a huge omission. Successive UK governments had made annual/bi-annual treatments of sheep and cattle with organophosphates COMPULSORY for at least 20 years (I can go into why if anyone asks). All cattle had to have the OPs poured along the spine and sheep were dipped in it twice a year. OPs are highly absorbent and will flood the entire body. Farmers often became ill (farm workers with CJD remember) but nobody cared. (Think Gulf War Syndrome). The OPs permeated every part of the animal meaning that every person (and cats and dogs) whoever ate meat from this country were eating OPs. The farmers had no choice to treat cattle until suddenly, in 1992, the compulsory order was lifted with no explanation.
As for processing animal waste into animal feed. This goes on everywhere in the world but only the UK got Mad Cow Disease. Only the UK had made organophosphates compulsory. A few scientists and vets were on to this but all died in unfortunate accidents or too young.
I asked an online buddy from the UK what the fires smelled like, he said steak😄

Next time the donors ask if I want to give blood, I’ll ask them if they want a possibility of prions disease in their lab.. since I have bad mental health that’s been getting worse by the year… I’ve become a child at this point watching only YouTube and kids shows.. I’m sad I’m forgetting things and regressing so much.
I also have no clue as to why or what’s happening but I’m positive my blood wouldn’t be needed because of how bad my brain is spiraling down hill.

The daughter of a couple who were friends with John Gummer died of vCJD. I'm unsure as to whether they continued speaking with him after they found out she'd become infected.
as always this whole situation was quietly buried,as were the cows, and the media moved onto bingo and cheap holidays..
Eat meat it's good for you
There were a lot of factors at play here, including the force-feeding of recycled animal parts to a species that is normally herbivorous and therefore doesn’t possess digestive enzymes for muscular and nervous polypeptides (I.e. proteins), inclusion of nervous system components in said material, improper processing of feed, and a lack of understanding of cell biology by those in charge of making the decisions. It’s likely this sort of thing was done with sheep and goats before (hence the scraping disease) but it wouldn’t have been severe because goats are omnivores and less likely to have such a high quantity of misdigested polypeptides accumulate in their tissues because of this, and also because those animals are less common and probably not as much of the feed was made up of their parts (meaning there was less of a feedback from them).
