1st of all I'd like to tell the families how sorry I am for everything they're going through. This is a life long situation that they're going to have to deal with. Having a brother that was murdered myself I can verify that. 2nd the family of this guy also has have s life sentence. People need to realize that they did not do this. And they are going through their own nightmare. Also. Regardless of if he did or didn't do this, that is still a family member. Having had someone in my own life that Did Is put horrible things. I can tell you those people can be many many faces. The person one knows another 1 would not recognize. They end up being like jekyll and hide or chameleons. Make God watch and bless each and every one of them. And help them to heal as best as possible. And may Justice come swiftly. My hats off to the responders and officers that have this case. Though it looked like they did not have much in the beginning they truly had a plan and did it well. Not only that but they are going to have to live with this too. I will say, ALL he's done in past needs to be raked through. Most who do this horrible of crimes do not start with 4 murders.
After leaving the scene, did he travel all the way to his apartment and discover that the sheath was missing and had to go back for it? Was that knife discarded sometime between point a and point b? What was the initial clue that implicated Brian as the perpetrator?
The only mitigating circumstance could be a crime of passion that got out of hand. All his defense can do is watch out they don't use a needle in Idaho. So justice can be a rather tricky affair depending on where one is convicted in the promised land.
In case anyone is wondering if the Snake River should be dredged for a murder weapon (where Bryan's cell pinged in Clarkston. WA the morning of and just approximately 40 minutes later). It would be near to impossible to dredge the Snake River to find a meager knife in such a large river. Actually, it's the 'confluence' where the snake and clearwater meet. The Red Wolf Crossing bridge over and across the Snake – the bigger river that merges at the confluence) is the site where they say the murderer of the victim who was on her bicycle in 1982- coming from Moscow to Lewiston (30 miles) was thrown and found in floating garbage bags (watch Cold Valley documentary). The river is very vast and wide, especially at the confluence and lower- Bryan likely threw the weapon from the bridge. No way to find it now – not without months of dredging and you cant drain the Snake, there are dams connected and it runs into the Columbia later on by the Tri-Cities (Pasco, Richland, Kennewick) further west. It's (The Snake River where the supposed knife may have been dumped) actually quite vast. (Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington are also border towns such as Moscow and Pullman. There used to be a quad-city drug task force associated with these four locations. There may still be – where they work together on state lines and with FBI due to interstate travel). Merrilee Lewis was a famous explorer/traveler with Clark, commissioned by the government back east to survey all the way to the ocean and this is how 'Lewis'ton and 'Clark'ston got their names. Lewis and Clark came through with Sakakawea from the Mandan Tribe in now, New Town, North Dakota where they first explored and commissioned the help of the native girl and her older, french, trapper-husband. The Nez Perce Indians fed them roots along the journey of the Clearwater and Snake with the help of the translater, Sakakawea and they eventually caught up with other tribes along the route and eventually, Columbia River to the pacific ocean (just a little history on the area since all eyes are on north central Idaho right now).

I don't see this guy cracking to reveal his motive or law enforcement finding a murder weapon. Trial and verdict are going to depend on all the other evidence with the DNA on the sheath, the vehicle and its movement being the most crucial for the prosecution.
