I've Been Waiting 15 Years For This Game

STALKER 2 has been 15 years in the making. Now that it’s finally close to release, it’s kind of amazing to look back at the original game’s long-term success.

  1. I have a feeling there will be bugs with the game and that's perfectly fine, I think these guys of all people should get a free pass when it comes to fixing their game lol. I am super excited for this game and cant wait to play it

  2. I’m a little disappointed to hear it’s on unreal and not a new version of the X-Ray engine, but I suppose it’s still up to how the AI and their behaviors are fully developed in the end to call if it was a good choice or not.

  3. I don't think our poor Mr Falker ever really knew exactly why young dudes kept putting on strange accents and saying "Get out of there, Falker" but he took it with good humour mostly. I think he guessed it was some stupid tv reference or something.

  4. Metro (and all EA games) are corridor games that get boring quickly. I hope this one goes well.
I enjoyed 180h on Cyberpunk 2077's launch version, BTW. Sorry for the console peasants, but PC was fine.

  5. Let's hope the casual gamers have levelled up enough now to not complain about "overly complex" control schemes, etc. So you know, we can actually have a Stalker 2 instead of a rehashed version of the original for "modern audiences". Frankly I'm pretty sure casual gamers have been tired of being coddled to for a number of years now and there's enough of them that want something that's actually more.

But to his point, yes we may get screwed so-to-speak on this release because of all the hardships the dev team is going through. Except this time they're LEGITIMATE reasons. In which case I hope that people are smart enough to be as sympathetic and forgiving as possible.

My guess? It may release like the original did. Riddled with bugs, constant updating, etc. but with enough charm the fanbase keeps it going throughout the years. With Cyberpunk I promised I wouldn't play it until at least 2 years later to play it "properly" for much the same reason. But I'll play Stalker 2 right away regardless of the condition as long as it's still got soul.

    Gotta support what you love.

  6. Stalker, fighting underequipped Russian men over the scraps of wartorn ukraine.. sound familiar to anyone? At this point its impossible for the game to not at least be authentic.

  7. Stalker really was a amazing game and was soooo underated at the time. I'm glad it's finally getting the attention it deserves. I never liked FPS games and mostly still don't they're just too cartoony. I am and will always be a sim shooter type of girl. My all time favorites of the genre are America's Army (which kinda started off the genre for me and maybe was the first sim shooter ever?), The Arma series, Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl and DayZ. What stalker does which no other game has been able to do is build a world which feels deep, is genuinely terrifying and filled with mystery. You want to explore the game but with caution lol.

  8. Bro i dont know if its Just me but i dont remember stalker being so bugged as many people say. I can Just recall the game crashing a couple of time and i've finished this game around 4 times full vanilla and in differents hardwares. My first time was in a Intel dual core, then pentium g620 and nowadays that i can play with a radeon rx 550 i havent seen that many crashes. Just now that i have a dedicated video card i can play stalker modded so yes, this 4 times that im talking abouy are truely full vanilla.

  9. If someone never heard of STALKER, but is hyped now i highly reccomend trying out STALKER GAMMA – it is free, standalone biggest modpack for STALKER. You almost cannot tell this game is so old when playing it 🙂

  10. Eurojank is made for people who understand and love gaming, it's a genre only for particular people. If you excused soulslike for its jankiness, indies for their scale, then what else for an AA eurojank..

  11. Man it kind of trips me out to see vanilla stalker.. I remember when I first started the game, that first engagement and immediately quit dug around in the ini files.. and disabled that stupid iron sight zoom LOL.. it was like night and day difference for shootability.. tweaked a couple of other things too over time.. nothing to change the difficulty I remember being really strict about that.. but there were so many cool things you could do they had such a good scripting system for that engine and everything was like annotated, like it was just waiting to be played with.. two things that I really don't like in games universal tracer rounds and iron sight zoom.. I wish I could be so picky now it's I'm just happy if I get left and right leaning or something like that.. and if I don't I don't play it.. one of the coolest things though about the physics and the ballistics was setting up shots for like the pseudo dog, which I'm still convinced is a giant flying squirrel.. you you don't shoot it in the head directly cuz it has armor.. but you shoot the ground underneath it and bounce the bullets up into it.. what a cool ass game.. remember having a full week off, no money and just being bored out of my skull desperately look for a game that might fill what should be a joyous void of absence.. one of the best I've ever had.. it was a good week.

  12. I tried Anomaly after seeing a video about it (pretty sure it was Drewski) and immediately picked up all three original games & modded the hell out of them; I love everything about this series, the premise, the backstory, the gameplay, the characters, the fact the devs were so open to the modding community and all the killer mods that followed, stalker is a crazy world that's easy to get lost in.

Anomaly does get a little tedious and degrades into nonstop fetch quests after a while but that's not the point, the point was to show the potential of what stalker could become, and there's a reason it's such a hit, and hopefully GSC Game World has been paying attention. (I'm pretty sure they have)

And now that some of their devs have actually given up their lives protecting their country, it's more important than ever we that we give GSC all the love and support we can; It takes a hell of a lot of courage both to go and fight and to keep working on something like this in the middle of a war, so let's make sure their dedication was worth it for ALL of them.

  13. I cautiously optimistic, I hope they pull it off, but from what they've shown so far it's very clear that there's no actual gameplay and it's heavily scripted sequences – I'll believe it when I see it.
