  4. I swear it's like summer and warm weather months get longer and longer but the cold and snowy days get lesser and lesser. Sucks for people who genuinely look forward to winter every year.

I can already see February being in the mid 50's and 60s

  5. According to the newly installed weather station in my yard, near Snowflake, Arizona, yesterday it rained for 465 minutes, accumulating 1.38cm (0.54").

And then it snowed. The snow was just enough to cover the ground.

Phoenix and Show Low set new records for wettest New Year's Day.

  7. Wondering Why the Caption is “Insane Weather”…. Looks pretty tame to me. Same with yesterday’s “Major Arctic Invasion”… There is no major arctic invasion. Compared to most Januarys it’s also pretty tame. As for anything a week or two away… you can take that with a Grain of Salt.

  8. I've watched your channel quite a long time but and just wanted to say how much I enjoy it. I'm a Biologist but back in the early 80s I took 2 weather and meteorology & climate graduate classes that I really enjoyed. This was when we were just beginning to utilize computer models at the grad level for a few classes such as my genetics & evolution classes. For meteorology it was still old school & we drew all these contour maps by HAND! I really didn't hate it… and it gave me a much more intuitive grasp of forecasting but it would have been cool to play with the computer models. When Hurricane Katrina was just a blip on the radar screen I remember finding a computer model of what would happen if a storm tracked slightly east of New Orleans (the worst scenario) vs slightly west and showed it to my general biology students since we were studying ecology at the time. We looked at what Katrina was doing and I remember telling them that it looked to me as if they might get the worst scenario this time… and then we watched IRT as it all unfolded. I'm in northern SC and starting at 9:22 around the 10th it looks like a possibility of our classic set up for a winter ice storm.

  9. Okay I'm using my vocal text so excuse some of the punctuation please. This is basically panning out exactly as I had talked about that there's going to be a couple of fast runners that are going to drop some snow in the Mid-Atlantic. Temperatures are going to be pretty moderate so whatever snow like I said a few days ago enjoy it while you can because it will not last very long. I do not see anything of any real major consequence in the Northeast meaning generally upstate New York New England Northern Pennsylvania that sort of area. I feel they're going to be a chances of quick minor snowfalls of an inch or two maybe a little more in the mountain some of the mountains might be able to ring out up to six inches in the higher mountains of New York Vermont New Hampshire and Western Maine. Those of us in Southern New Hampshire basically here in the higher elevations you might see two to four inches of snow and this is going to be over a period of three to four days this isn't going to be like a one-time event.those further south in Massachusetts if you're in the higher elevation specially west of Springfield you'll be in the same sort of thing that we would be in Southern New Hampshire two to four inches over a period of three or four days. Potentially I do not really see anything that is going to be what I would consider a big storm in other words well in excessive six inches until likely the 20th or later. The week after that we go on our cruise so unfortunately I won't get to see what happens. Kind of like in 2015 when we had upwards of 3 ft of snow in the Nashua and general greater Merrimack valley area . You still do not have any extended blocking coming from the North Atlantic oscillation. Pretty much storms are able to just zip through without much fanfare. Some of the Canadian Maritime provinces I think will get hit pretty hard in a couple of these small storms as they do swing out well south of us but then curve to the north Northeast and clip Nova Scotia New Brunswick Labrador. This series I think are going to get hit pretty decently within the next several weeks.

  10. Here in Ohio it seems like this is the typical pattern of the last ten years. The big snows and cold snaps all come in the window from mid-January to mid-February. The old generation remembers when it was December-March.
