The test is over, from this moment on, you are, a Raven.
Let’s go back to 1997 and replay the Fromsoftware mech combat game ‘Armored Core’.
Chances are you had the first level of this on a demo disc and never got to play the whole thing, so, is it actually any good?
Massive thanks to the supporters on Patreon and Twitch who keep the channel and nostalgia alive!

Loved this game
You over sold the bad camera. It's no THAT bad. You were just walking into a wall.
It's like saying a mansion is small because you are standing in a corner, which you were literally doing.
DO NOT CIRCLE STRAFE IN ARMORED CORE circle strafe in one direction then switch direction when enemy fires.
Also, every AC game has a way you can build your core to have infinite energy
This game back then was the coolest thing ever to made it into the Playstation 1, it is hard, but you are piloting a robot, firing massive guns, missiles and got Human Plus without knowing it.
After Rayman, this was my third game I owned. While I never beat the game back then, it was a truly memorable game. I feel like a professional despite being a 11 year old kid. Armoured Core brought me into the console gaming and my deep love for mechs and military war machines.
My AC always ended up with a electric pole Head, everything else can be anything, but the head is always an electric pole. To be having sensors and radar is some of the most important thing in this game.
I've actually never looked at footage of this game. It looks really cool. Fast action mecha battles on PS1? Hell yeah!
Man, this game looks cool as shit. Wonder why I never played this back in the day.
AC2 really sold it for me IMHO
I'm gonna watch this but before i do the answer is yes. These were the Gran Turismo of mech games and a blast in their time. I'm sure this new installment will be spectacular
Everyone's formative years are amazing but the 90s really by were… (A good consolation for missing the 60s 70s and 80s)
But to see in magazines and tv things we dreamed about only years before when playing NES
Your save game can then transfer over to Project Phantasma and Master of Arena. So you can keep all your parts, builds and iirc even human+ upgrades.
Such fond memories of this game as a kid. I never once got to play but the older kids sat there playing this for hours. I was even just happy to watch
Played a lot of Masters of Arena. It came with two discs, both of which could launch into multiplayer mode, so if you had access to two playstations with their own displays and the cheap link cable, you got to hunt each other down in missions without being able to see where they were.
I blurted, "no way shut the fck up" when it was revealed that the moonlight greatsword was in armored core. seriously wtf
51:36 one could say this boss is armed to the … CORE, aight imma leave now
Remember making optimus prime and megatron themed ones.
this game was great
It looks like a zaku
Short answer: Yes
Just a small correction.. the energy label actually refers to the "fuel" you can referencing. The F is just for full. The AC's health isn't energy, it's armor points. I'm not sure it's described as such in this came but eventually it's clarified as AP (armor points) in later games while energy is and so far has always been the "staminia" bar.
I was only able to play the demo as a kid. I wanted this game so damn bad but my gramps couldn’t get it for me
I never had this game on my PS1 but i remember fondly a demo cd that had a level of it. I would spend hours repeating that demo and making my own emblem lol
