Hey guys, Cassie's editor Mike here. This video should have been edited and posted Friday before last, but I got laid out with an awful flu for nearly two weeks. Nothing to do with Cassie or Carly, they've already recorded Return of the King. So sorry for the long wait! Part two will be up tomorrow and then Return of the King bright and early in the New Year. Hope everyone had a better Christmas than I did!
The actor who plays Grima Wormtongue was in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," which is another movie you ought to see, if you haven't already. His name is Brad Dourif. He's from West Virginia. I think it was on the set of LoTR– after filming wrapped, he reverted back to his natural accent, and another actor heard him speaking talking and asked him something like, "Oh hey, nice accent– that for your next role?" He was so good at being from Middle Earth that the other actors didn't even know that his Wormtongue voice wasn't his natural voice.

hmm, i don't actually see anyone in the comments answering your questions about what and how the character of gollum was made so here i go! he was one of, if not THE first significant success in motion capture. the successful implementation along with the high level animations and andy serkis' fantastic performance proved that motion capture was a viable technique in storytelling. without it, i doubt we would've gotten the new planet of the apes movies (also starring andy serkis lol)

Gandalf isn't really old. His soul is young and eternal, like the elves, but on middle earth Manwe sent the 5 meier spirits as old men, wizards. The meier are helper spirits to the Vanyar. They are more powerful than elves but weaker than than eru (the god of this universe) and weaker than the Vanyar.
Also, sauron isn't the real dark lord. He's a meier spirit like Gandalf. So Gandalf has the potential to defeat Sauron in battle. They are both meier. Morgoth is a vanyar. More powerful than meier spirits, but the other vanyar finally defeated him and locked him out of the univers. That left a power vacuum for Sauron to take over.
Dumbledore may be a wizard but he is still human. Gandalf is basically a low tier god.
I Read the Book as a kid ,don't usually enjoy a Film .But was very impressed with the Films ,which stayed faithful to Tolkeins writing.
Saruman, like Denethor later, have Palantirs (the crystal ball thing Gandalf touched at Sarumans tower & saw the EYE of Sauron.)
Sauron corrupted them over time through a mind link using the stones.
That's why Gandalf covered it and said it was too dangerous to try to use them because they did not know who else had them.

Fun fact : The scene where the Rohan flag ripped from its pole (24:50) was not part of the actual shooting. The wind actually ripped it from the pole and flew it away. Peter Jackson liked it so much that he added it into his movie just like he added the scene where Aragorn injured his toe kicking the helmet earlier.
Someone may have mentioned, but when you learn of Aragorn's age, The king of Rohan that Gandalf saves "Théoden" , is more of a spoiled brat like nephew to Aragorn. It makes the scene a bit different when Aragorn says to fight and Théoden snaps back at him.
Hi! Lttle bit of middle earth lore for you! Saruman, Gandalf, and Sauron actually ARE the same type of beings! The best real world equivalent would be the idea of angels. They are all thousands of years old and are all after a fashion, immortal. The lore is rich and very very deep, and just as complex.
Gandalf isn't just 80-90 he's much older. And he's also a minor god… I like Dumbledore, but I don't think he could take a god.

Ok I love Gandalf but Dumbledore is a much stronger wizard. I kinda don't think it's fair to compare them though as they are vastly different types of wizards
For Gollum, Andy Serkis wore a suit but was mostly used as a reference for Elijah Wood and Sean Astin based on the fact Gollum is a CGI character. Eventually they used him more on set. For Return of the King they used Motion capture to capture Andy Serkis’ performance
