Review bombing is never OK.
The game boots perfectly fine.
If I buy a brand new car from a dealership and it doesn't even start so I can leave and start driving it then that's on the dealer to fix. Same thing applies to the devs, if I buy a game from a launcher and it doesn't even start yet other games do then its up to the devs to fix not me to find a work around

I posted a negative review after watching this video. I should be able to boot a game I bought and enjoyed a year ago without extra tech workarounds. I encourage people to not buy the game on other platforms because SE will just abandon the steam version since they are still getting your money elsewhere.
Oh tried to play it recently and it wouldn't launch, I was wondering what the problem was. I had to download a cracked version to play the game I bought
From what I see this is mainly a steam issue as I have it on switch & it works fine
Can't speak for pc but the switch version I bought from play asia works no problem. Really good game , would hope they do a sequel one day.

I bought the game like 6 months ago? Something like that, and haven't touched it yet because I saw people talking about how bad the game was at that time and I find it interesting how the reviews says ''positive'' because it wasn't last time I bought it. So something must have changed there. Now that the game has these issues..I might wait a little longer to play it.
Man, Squeenix should really fix their games on steam especially for this one, it'll just hurt the game's reputation more when it's already underappreciated as is

It's a shame, because this is a great game, and this issue on Steam should have been fixed asap.
I know that you're into creature collection, so I'm not sure how familiar you already are with the FF brand. But FF had a golden age FF1-FF11. And then the original creator of the series (Hironobu Sakaguchi) left the company taking most of the talent with him, which resulted in a dark age for the franchise as corporate took over and started milking the franchise for money instead of art and good stories. 12 was mixed (as it was still in development when the exodus occurred,) and then 13-15 were bonafide bad to terrible games. And there was nothing but sequels, low effort spinoffs mobile games, and nonsensical cash ins. Right now there is hope that FF will exit their dark age and make a comeback (via 14 Realm Reborn and hopefully 16.)
But I say all of this to add context to the situation at SE right now. There is a side of Square Enix that is genuinely capable of creating amazing art and stories. And then there is a neglectful money grubbing side. Please continue calling out the money grubbers, so that the artists might have room to breathe and make the art they want to make again.

Thank you, not sure if I really got into an argument with someone about this, but I can get a bit unsure if i feel like everyone else just tries to play doctor on their PC and fix the game somehow else.
Yes I had a few examples where games were never fixed, lazy devs "small or not" and many arguments about simply using this or that fix.
What are your thoughts on devs answering where they sell the game too, as the example used in the video steam?

Another bad thing Square Enix did to World of Final Fantasy is that they took out trading and battle against friends on Nintendo Switch version. I don't know if that is the same for Steam version.
Steam should remove and refund all games that don't start. They are getting cut of broken games, thus they are responsible for it.
PSA for anyone that wants this game but don't want to buy it on Steam because of these issues: It's currently deeply discounted on the Nintendo Switch, at least in the EU.
I just bought it for less than two Subway subs. (This is the "Maxima" version of the game, I'm guessing that means it includes all the DLC. One can hope at least.)
nier automata pc version had issues for years until was finally fixed. Wonder what SE did this year to mess it as usual 🤔

This actually brought World of Final Fantasy to my attention & I've since got it on the Switch because it's also on Sale there at the moment – but I do hope Square Enix stop ruining Final Fantasy on PC, they've consistently been one of the worst developers at fixing PC related bugs for any game.
Square are kinda scummy, remember when they delisted DQ11 from the steam store for a shity port of the Switch version? That was graphically inferior?
Given the complexity of modern games and hardware, (literally thousands of chip/motherboard/ram combos) and the fact that not everyone even knows how to properly build a pc, its amazing that these issues arent more abundant. Its also a shame that so many negative reviews are based on "i have some obscure version of whatever, and this doesnt work." If anything, people should be grateful that developers are willing to get their stuff working on anything other than the latest and greatest highest market share ANYTHING. Because lets be real here: Tech companies set the standard of what is relevant, not Joe Consumer sitting on his couch playing cookie clicker v0.1 with an Android 3.0 "iphone" chinese import 4 cameras but 3 are fake and 1 is 0.5 pixel (not megapixel, regular pixel) "smart"phone.
We need something in place so that non-review issues (like this) can be displayed prominently instead of having to rely on the most useful review to TLDR new people

Pretty sad that this is an issue for several months now, last updated roughly 5 years ago so doubt it will be fixed anymore. A man can dream though.
