It was just too silly. The studio needed to reign in Taika just a bit. Constraints lead to creative ideas. When given none it usually doesn't work.
The screaming goats and the Stormbreaker jealousy bits went for way too long. The Guardian could have easily not been there and the kids at the end just way too goofy.
