Log spikes can be upgraded to titanium ,only takes one block and doest get destroyed easily.

What you could do is 3×3 pillars that are 4 blocks high and just connect like 15 of them so you can move when one is about to fall
As far as a horde base goes, you guys should do an upgraded bunker with a tower and metal bars to shoot through, surround it with traps, and wall it all in. Repeat and add bridges between walls. Put turrets up top for the birds. That should cover all the basics and then some. You will need to focus on getting a steady stream of gas and several generator banks for each layer, unfortunately.

A base idea that I used a lot in vanilla 7d2d is to make a ditch around the base that is like 4-5 deep and 3-4 wide. the ditch be on 3 sides of the base and lead to the front of the base with stairs so the zombies go up to the front door and that will make them all come only to the front. Key to the base to work is make sure the floor is upgraded + fully cover the ditch with a wall fully upgraded too.
