  1. Hey everyone! I know there are some folks out there who’ve been following this channel for a long time waiting for some Life On Mars content. While I plan on making more in 2023, I wanted to get this one out there first. The Martians are a lot of fun to photograph and some eagle eyed viewers might recognize a certain studless baseplate from a few videos ago! 😉

I’ve got two more videos planned for 2022, then we’re gonna hit the ground running in 2023! I may have to take a week or two off in there for the holidays, but we’ll see. Thanks for sticking with the channel, and for any newcomers out there, welcome! ❤️

  2. I'm realizing now that the martians actually have a kindof similar vibe to the original Mctoran. at least partially mechanical looking, vibrantly colored, all sharing the same basic build, Altair and Kongu even directly share color schemes!

  3. I love this theme. It was one of of the few, I had quite a good amount of sets from and the colours were so out there back then. A nice thing for sure and I do have one martian with broken arms unfortunately. However most of them are luckily fine! 🙂

  4. There’s like 2 or 3 different Martian species in lego history right? Life on Mars and Mars Mission at least. Kinda neat how the planet apparently bore two different sentient species.

  5. The one 'saving grace' is that if you keep all your spare pieces, you should presumably have one spare arm from each set… although I've used those up already for my meager two-set (soon to be three sets) collection.

Lego should start a campaign where fans can vote for new colors, retired colors, or lesser used colors to come into production for the follow year each year. And then a more precise voting where fans can nominate parts to be produced (if Lego still has the mould for it) and vote again to decide which of the pieces get made. These could then show up in upcoming sets or just be available at the pick a brick for the year.

  6. It’s so stressful collecting old Lego, you never know what will break or become horribly yellowed and often the supply of replacements is finite and ever decreasing :/

  7. Sadly ever since Disney started their quest to bring Star Wars back to its former marketing behemoth glory, lego has completely forgotten about space themes aside from classic 90s space theme.

  8. This got me thinking, so I went and pulled out the martians in my Aero Tube Hangar – both to keep them out of the frigid basement, but also to check their heads. I would have thought they'd all share the same head shape but no, there's a mix of the earred and ear-less, even across the same color. I'm curious if Lego just made a mixed batch and threw them out there without a second though.

  9. I've never been emotionally invested in battle droid arms before, but I hope everything turns out alright for these guys. 😉 I always wanted to see that tube transport feature in action.

  10. First of all, hello from Big Yellow's channel. I don't know how much of a groundswell you're getting or if you even know of them but it's where I came from
two, I had no earthly clue how complex LEGO as a fandom is. Much less even GUESSED at the idea that the company was sneaking support for old sets into the design of new ones just by making bricks and hiding them on the interior!

  11. Even battle droids from recent years are suffering, I have 60-70 battle droids dating back to 07 but only about 20 are still intact (I am thankful that extra arms come in every new set with a battledroid but that doesn't make the legs or head any safer)

  12. I didn't grow up with life on mars but I did grow up with Ninjago, it was so tragic when a broken clip cut the skeletons' afterlife short

At least white skeleton arms are as common as it gets!

  13. These martian figures are the center of massive childhood nostalgia for me. I absolutely adore them, and still love collecting every single related part that I can. Especially their legs and heads!

It never really occurred to me that the fragility of the arms pose the challenges you outline…but I have broken a few over the years. Breaks my heart a bit.

It would probably take me a lot of adjustment if I started using the more organic parts if they were in turquoise and other relevant colors. They certainly match the flow of the legs, though they look slightly puffy compared to my childhood love for the original.

  14. Has the fabled day come?! Are we finally getting Life On Mars!!!!?
I didn't want to ask for it, for fear of getting it inorganically, but if the day has come, I shall rejoice anyways!
This is not an issue I ever considered. You have me fearing for my Battle Droids now!
Of course, I suppose, for the Martians, we could give them prosthetic arms? You speak in this video about their representation; surely amputees would be a great group for representation?
    I am unsure.
What a shame that LEGO is destructible! At least we're not doing it intentionally, but man…

  15. As a kid, we had a hand-me-down set of that tube station that came in a plastic bag. I'm not sure we even had all the parts, let alone the attention span to build it all… but we had fun making mars vehicles out of the parts.

  16. I only started watching lego videos with Big Yellow's recent videos, is there a reason why this community gets really excited about specific colored pieces? I feel like with how big a community like this is, someone can probably figure out a mixture of common paint brands that could mimic the same color easily, so I don't exactly understand why people would be waiting for X piece in Y color.
