Ukrainian drone attacks expose Russian air defences

A third Russian airfield was on fire on Tuesday (December 6) from a drone strike.

Russian media released footage of what they said was the aftermath of the alleged attack on the Kursk region airfield.

The governor said an oil storage tank there had been set ablaze but there were no casualties.

It comes a day after Ukraine demonstrated an apparent new ability to penetrate hundreds of miles deep into Russian air space with attacks on two Russia air bases.

And on Tuesday prompted Britain’s defense ministry to say “If Russia assesses the incidents were deliberate, it will probably consider them as some of the most strategically significant failures of force protection since its invasion of Ukraine.

Russia confirmed it had been hit by what it said were Soviet-era drones at Engels air base.

600km from the nearest Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said it was the only base Russia has that is fully equipped for the giant bombers Russia has used in attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid.

  4. Is it just me but is Russia being more open & honest recently??? Before it would be blanket denials etc but now it’s meh yup, ok that happened & here’s the pics & a full rundown of what was damaged & when. If u think of it, the Kherson retreat, I expected all kinds of stories & lies but they openly stated yup 👍, we can’t hold onto this land & especially with winter coming our supply lines can’t cope so we conducted a (to be fair to them” was actually quite a well organised operation. I’m ex British army & I know the planning needed to get such a large force, back over the Dnipro river fairly intact. I’ve noticed this & many more such instances it feels to me that they have a new guy running the official statements & it will serve them much better than the old style of doing things.

  11. Ukraine should have used their ability to strike inside Russia to pinpoint Putin's exact location when out in public and deliver a missile strike that obliterates Putin and ends the war!!

  14. That we're like animals! It's in the blood! It's natural! Peace? That's an accident! It's what is! When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing. When the killing stops in one place, it starts in another, but that's okay… 'cause you're killing for your country. But it ain't your country who asks you, it's a few men up top who want it.* Old men start it, young men fight it, nobody wins, everybody in the middle dies… and nobody tells the truth! Ukraine should have mounted the "HIMARS new M30A1 warhead for Ukraine – 182k Tungsten steel balls shreds everything" to their drones that impacted the airfields in Russia ,, a lot of those long range bombers would have likely been made unable to fly if they were filled with holes from the balls …

  40. Ok suffering is suffering and it is not nice for the sufferer. But Russian people are guilty of the actions of their state.

    If my family was wiped out by a Russian missile hitting my house I would welcome the news that thousands of Russians had been killed on the front line or in bomb attacks on Russian cities.

    I don't care if the dead Russians were innocent just like the murdered Ukrainians.

    Pute started this and his pathetic pawns like Scabby Olga and Lavatory Boy and Dim Pest and a host of other vermin seek constantly to justify his actions.

    And the Russian people obediently and ignorantly provide the economy that finances this.

    So ultimately we are choosing between Russians dying and Ukrainians dying and potentially lots of other Europeans dying if Russia wins now or even survives long enough to re-arm.

    So I want to hear only about dead Russians. The more the better.

    And in the meantime I don't want Russian nationals in my country and I believe they should be totally banned from travel to Europe.

    Do people really not understand the revulsion, hatred and contempt felt for Russians now?
    Especially by people like me who actually remember the 1939-45 war in Europe, whose parents fought in it, and whose relatives were bombed in the Blitz on English cities?
    We had Bomber Harris and he explained things to Hamburg and Dresden and a few other unfortunate population centres.
    Something similar is long overdue for Russians.

  42. Funny how the average Russian believes the nonsense about this being a war against NATO. This sure was not a NATO weapon LOL. Neither are all the grenades being dropped from consumer-grade drones on the front line Russian trenches. That's all Russian machinery along weith all of the Ukranian armor, all Russian. Enjoy your TU-141s back.
