Loghain is Teyrn of Gwaren. Ferelden has two Teyrnirs, and about five or so Arlings as far as i recall. So Loghaine is a Theyrn of Gwaren.
Also he kinda sad villain in retrospective, his whole backstory was just one endless road of grim disappointment , being mistreated by foreigners, oppressed, tricked by an Orlesian spy later on and so on. Dude became a hardcore nationalist due to that.
Also Dragon Age book elaborates on why he has such an axe to grind with Grey Wardens too. Its a shame really, if he was luckier in his life and didnt ran into purely assholes from the Order he would be much better off in terms ofβ¦ yβknow, not being paranoid xenophobe.
Well the Alienage was finished surprisingly fast. Coming back as a city elf is definitely interesting experience, but getting rid of the slavers is always good no matter the race. Hopefully Alistair will be able to use this experience to maybe improve the lives of the elves here, maybe give them better living conditions
Shianni <3 I love her so SO much. I unironically wish she was a compaion.
@31:32 holy crap even in all these years of playing I never knew you could press tab on the map and it actually showed place. The more you know.
your telling me you dont recognize Amethyn the daughter of the elf girl you slept with in the start?
1:02:10 Actually that building wasn't empty. There were slavers and slaves stuck in cages inside. If you went there first they would've pointed you to where more slaves were being kept.
49:55 Such interesting tactics. Successfully crushing prism first and then neutralize it again with a force field.
This is the part of the game where Loghain becomes practically irredimable in my eyes.
18:27 This guy sounds like one of the Skyrim voice actors π€
1:00:55 There might also be a set bonus to consider that might be more than the improvement that shield gives.
you know you should check more banters between your companion before landsmeeth. Orzarmar is the best place if you want to get easty banters locations.
I forget if Sten has something to say if you bring him against the Tevinter slavers. Out of all the people of Thedas Tevinter is the one nation that has reguler conflict with the Qunari.
59:10 Remember Iona? Thats her daughter…π
Gotta give it to Zevran, it's like no amount of failure could ever make him stop believing in his lock picking abilities π
45:04 great comeback!
Also, I sometimes can't believe Morrigans standards when it comes to ethics
I notice that you decide against buying some of the start, because the game will end soon. But keep in mind that there are DLCs after, so nothing that you do here is wasted. It is all effort in upgrading that you do not have to go through when playing the DLC then.
And I too found the alienage weirdly short. I was also prepared for a longer thing here. I assume that time ran out here a little bit, but they didn't want to scratch it entirely. And I think it is well written enough and had everything that it needed, it just didn't quite match the pace of the other story parts.
Your reaction to the slavers is more or less mine, though my first playthrough was with the City Elf origin which made this whole quest a lot more personal as you might imagine.
Before, I could see Loghain as just looking out for Fereldan and being prone to control issues and manipulation by Howe. Afterwards? Screw that guy.
Elves are considered second class citizens and Loghain has a war to fund. There is no way to defend his actions, but it is possible to understand his motivation for them.
Honestly, elves aren't treated any worse than real-world peasants often were. Given they aren't human AND have a history of mutual violence with humans, it's no surprise they get treated that way. I wonder how far Anora would go to improve things for the elves. She has one as a handmaid, and she sent you to investigate the alienage. She specifically knew they wouldn't rebel without cause, so we know she views them as people too.
I also wonder if the city elves "know" about the whole immortality thing. It's a major sticking point for the Dahlish, and I think it's what motivated the attack that lead to the Exalted March against the old elves. The elves claim humans attacked them, but the codex entry about that Exalted March specifies that the elves struck first. The elves probably took humans settling so close to them as an attack because they were trying to regain their immortality and couldn't do it with humans in the area. Personally I think we did them a favor by removing that little obstacle to their growth. "Let me just take a century-long nap" ONE CENTURY LATER "Okay, who gave the humans guns while I was asleep, and why don't WE have them?!"
Tabris. "Ah, home again. And it seems worse than before. That must have taken some effort."
I'm fairly sure the implication is that the Tevinteers weren't actually curing sick people, or at least were only doing just enough to make it look like they were helping somewhat. What they wanted were healthy elves to take as slaves and certainly wouldn't want sick ones who might infect others. Just there for profit, with no interest in Ferelden affairs.
There is no place where elves are dominant race/group.
Glad you despise alienage as a systematic thing, must be difficult for the noble Lady of Highever to read notes in codex of the hahren of the Highever Alienage (just trolling for RP btw), don't know why you said "even Highever", it's a teyrnir in Ferelden, teyrn of Highever is one the most powerful humans in the land, it shouldn't be any different from other places in the land.
It's not just Ferelden, Val Royeaux, the capital of Orlais, having the worst alienage as per codex you've read.
Loghain is literal human trafficker on top of things, how lovely, I'm sure his stans and beloved daughter would explain how logical it all is, how practical, bad thing but for the good of Ferelden, lol.
Also, Anora "I've ruled the whole time and I'm neutral party" Mac Tir might have been unaware of Loghain's betrayl of Cailan, however what's her excuse for this state of the city elves in Denerim, she ruled the whole time, isn't she, that's what she said, right? Or is it the case of bad arls and teyrns (arl of Denerim specifically), but a good Queen Anora in all white and shiny, lol? Trash ruler if that's the case, if she just ruled in already established system. If she was unaware as well more points for her confirmation bias over "I've ruled the whole time" and not being as smart as she thinks she is.
59:00 – That's a cruel thing to say to a girl whose mom died in your bedroom, Wellons. Poor little sickly orphan girl.
4:15 "Wintersbreath", written as one word, is the epithet of an Avvar deity.
Wow that cutscene triggered in the nick of time, Zevran was about to die…
I feel between not going to that one area first and shortcutting your way to the end boss in the other one, you basically speedran this place lol
Loghain is the Tryn of Gwyarhen lol so having proof of his ill deeds is really valuable
"Even you must admit it's much better than resorting to barbarism, yes?" – I fail to see how slavery isn't already barbarism.
You do realize Loghain IS the teyrn of Gwaren, right?
If I remember correctly, there would've been guards (and freshly captured elves, I think) in hospice if you had went there before killing the slaver boss. It's another way to figure out what's happening in the alienage, you just kinda skipped past it.
Great vid again Welonz π thanks!ππ
Just a note that the Gnawed Noble bartender still has a last quest for you lol
Same with the Mage Collective and the Blackstone Irregulars, they will both have a final quest, that only shows up once you've finished all the other ones.
Felt the same way about the alienage area and its main quest, after all that time being closed it is interesting but also feels weirdly short.
Heres how it breakdown the king and queen rule over Feldon. But each city is responsible for their alienage and how people are treated. So the responsibility is on the hends of the people in charge of those lands. And those people are separate than the king and queen. So basically you have the king and queen say people are to be treated equally. But if the people in charge of those lands disagree they can treat them like garbage. Even if it goes against what the king and queen says but those people are in trouble if the king and queen find out. It was made clear the people in charge of denim seen elves as nothing but garbage so to speak..
Now I do not know why people complain and don't understand why the quest are the size they are in the alienage. Because the game developers knew what they were doing. They made quest to fit into those areas let's look at other areas the forest medium sized area. So you had a medium size guest in that location Orzammar a huge underground area so you had a long huge quest. The circle you had a small guest in the building and a bigger one in the Fade because the building was small and the fade is huge. Now the alienage is a small part or area in the city of dernim so that means small Quest for a small area. The game developers knew they had to make guest to fit the size of the map it's taking place in or area it's taking place in. Because if you have a small location you can't have a huge long quest because it would make no sense for a small location. For example if you have a movie that takes place in one house only you can't have a Epic Journey type movie like Lord of the Rings. Because it does not fit in one house and that's the location the movie will take place in. The same goes for quest in video games they have to fit in the location or the size of the location. Because if it's bigger than that location it makes no sense for it to be in that area.
You managed to take the shortcut. You skipped a good half or more of the plague combat/exploration. Just make sure to visit all the houses before you declare this done.
