The Lower Peninsula, let’s call it LP, and Upper Peninsula, let’s call it UP…of Michigan.
Michigan is the ONLY state in THESE United States which consists of two, distinct peninsulas like this, and in this video we’ll look at their similarities and differences. A peninsula, by the way, is a piece of land almost entirely surrounded by water. It just, ya know, sticks out there. Now Michigan’s peninsulas are surrounded by three of the five Great Lakes, the largest group of freshwater lakes on the planet. Are you thirsty? 21% of all the world’s fresh water is in them.
Despite being in the same state, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula often seem worlds apart. Indeed, at times it seems like they are two different states. But despite all their differences, they ain’t never separatin’. There is MORE than the Mackinac Bridge keeping these two peninsulas together. There seems to be a bond that cannot be broken.

And last but certainly not least, I look at the great state of Michigan for this Compared series.
0:33 Yep, I left out Lake Erie. It's great, too.
What else did I get wrong or leave out?

in summary: ohio
I think it’s worth noting although a different country, the Ontario border town city of Sault Ste. Marie (twin cities with her UP sister) has a population of roughly 80,000 people and close to 100,000 including all surrounding areas and does a lot for the UP economy in terms of trade and tourism.
😊
He's a dork
You left out sleeping bears dunes national Parks also pictured rocks is also national park that's in the up
Don’t worry the democrat leaders will take care of them lol
I'm was born in Grayling MI. Still living in the area. I've been all over the country. I've lived in Colorado Utah Texas New Mexico Pennsylvania West Virginia North Dakota and of course here in MI. I've visited almost all the other states with the exception of top right and top left portion of our great country. I've also visited Canada and Punta Cana Hands down best state in US in the summer is Michigan. If you love snow then all year round. ♥ I could be bias but I at least have a real comparison by living in other states but I am trying to not be…Colorado if you only had more lakes you may have one for most beautiful. Yet I know beauty is subjective. For me Michigan rocks!!!!! Especially if you're a rock hound and love trees and lakes fishing and kayaking. Etc….I'm rambling GO BLUE
Mr breast give me money
damn bro wtf why does this get uploaded when i’m not in michigan
I live in the Eastern Upper Peninsula and I see Texas license plates daily year round.
One Day Superior will be a state.
As a Wisconsinite, we should still own the UP
I have a question for any Yoopers, we trolls, when making a map, flip the hand over for the UP then shown in the video. Who's right here?
As a Yooper born and raised I can definitely say that our unique accent IS NOT because of only the Finn's. It's a weird mixture of French, Canadian, Cornish and yes Finnish along with Norwegians. It's like none other that I've encountered
Peninsula comes from the Latin word for "almost an island".
I hope to vacation in Michigan one summer. It looks gorgeous, particularly the UP.
They are not the same state, and not even the same country for that matter. There is no reason for the U.P. to be connected to the lower peninsula politically. The people in the lower peninsula only ride snow mobiles at 10% of the frequency of Yoopers, and people in the L.P. do not even eat pickled bologna.
Can you do east, middle, and west Tennessee compared. I feel that would be interesting
And a paper sack from a grocery store is a Hamady sack now what store it came from
Hey hey hey… we have giant mosquitoes and black flies in thr LP too…
Sorry but that’s not how you do the hand thing
We used to go to the Iron River-Crystal Falls area from Milwaukee every summer to a campsite (Penetoga Park) beautiful place and the people were cool too
Question I'm sure someone on here remembers? The 1966 partial nuclear meltdown at fermi 1 where the saying "We almost lost detroit" comes in at. Can someone explain to me how come nearby Toledo Ohio is not mentioned? Wouldn't it have been destroyed as well?
You forgot the biggest difference, the Yoopers are Packers fans where the rest of Michigan puts up with the Lions
So Lake Erie …. don't give a damn?
This past few days watching my crypto portfolio decline is very disheartening. Holding doesn't really profit mich. Any idea on how to earn better in the short run ❤️?
