I remember in 2019 I came back to play mtg after like 6-8 years of having stoppped playing… I came back to play Eldraine sealed with a group of friends… my first opponent played Oko, Thief of Crowns somewhat early into the game, turning my strongest creature into an Elk and going up to 5 loyalty… Then he played a 4 toughness creature and I was unable to attack Oko ever again, losing me the game.
    After finishing the match I asked to read the card again — I was impressed that such was the power of planeswalkers now, but I was mistaken, it was just Oko

  7. Black Friday accidents are no joke. So it's very much a floodgate in stores to give some sales now over later where people will punch, kick and bite to buy something. I remember going to a local Toy's R Us a few hours before closing and seeing all the police tape on the floor and things thrown around. People are animals, that is for sure.

  8. To be fair we also now have many ways to kill oko that we got after the fact especially in white it might be fine in modern and pioneer now but that's assuming people can get over it's history to even try
    Remember we didn't have skyclave apparition, fateful absence, fracture, bone shards, Graf reaver, grist as examples. We even got stuff that can help deal with oko such as flame blitz in red.
    Also let's not forget UG isn't doing to hot anymore with uro gone and the top decks are combo styled and this could help a new archetype deal with murktide as an example.
    Idk it might even just be too powerful but looking at things in a vacuum its difficult to say

  12. IDK how people didn't think Oko wasn't broken, he's a beast within on a stick, with CMC 3.
    ->Beef up your 1/1's into 3/3's, turn your 1 cost artifacts.
    ->Disable strong effect creatures or anything stronger then a 3/3, can deal with indestructible creatures.
    ->Turn artifact lands into 3/3 beasts, even indestructible ones.
    ->Food Tokens feed affinity/Urza Saga
    ->In Affinity you can easily use his -5 to trade like a memnite for a CMC3 cost
