A big busy day at the farm … we had some electrical work being done behind the scenes. You can see the doggies noses popping out from under the garage door as the guys get the cherry picker through the gates. Then it’s off for a run through the bush.
Bandit has to return back to the house after a short run. But it’s back to the bush for the rest of the pack then off for a swim before the shelter dogs arrive for their day out.

Today we focus on a couple of new dogs that have arrived, mum and son Filly and Colt that were found dumped in the bush. They’re extra friendly towards everyone and everything. Filly especially loves men and tries to befriend all the tradies on the day. These two are very big but seriously beautiful dogs just wanting to find a loving home of their own.
Then it’s time to meet Haven. She’s a stray possibly from an abusive home from stories from witnesses. She is a Rottweiler cross Kelpie. And boy is she that. We see the big Rottie Freddo bounce in her and then quickly drops to the ground to reveal the typical Kelpie stalk/crawl. She’s absolutely gorgeous. Luke decides in about two seconds, I missed it was so quick, that Haven and Rover will be best friends. And boy they really turned out to be that.
Today we had the pleasure of meeting Natalie, one of our followers who kindly volunteered her time to Dee at the shelter, Dee said well why don’t you come down to the farm for the day. Natalie was very excited to come and help out, and it was great to finally put a face to the name I always see commenting with such positive support for both the farm and Dee’s shelter. Thank you Natalie.
Another big thank you to Trish another of our members. I wasn’t sure which Trish it was, but since this video I’ve figured out it was Patricia (with the Husky profile pic) who has sent both Dee and us here at the farm a gift voucher for Christmas. She sent it down with Dee to give us. A very big thank you Trish! You always give us such positive encouraging words of support everyday too, thank you so very much.
Dee talks about the big problem they’re facing at the shelter at the moment. They are completely full, and sadly no one is coming in to adopt. They haven’t seen it ever this bad. Please if you are considering adopting a dog, now is the time more than ever. There are so many dogs that need to get out of the shelter and find a living home sooner rather than later.

Everyone got out for exercise. Volunteers had the other dogs out in the various fenced paddocks we have.
At the end of the day, Kitty Rose did some more backyard exploring. She’s enjoying her afternoon outings. Then inside, Freddo watches over the kids having a bath. No one will get into any trouble on his watch that’s for sure!

Hey Sam, Luke, you should have a look at today's cartoon by 'First Dog on the Moon' (published in UK in Guardian newspaper). Today's strip is called 'The story of Oscar – a small dog', and it is a very angry strip about puppy farms and abuse of dogs. It kind of chimes with what Dee was talking about on Thursday, too….xx

In my area (San Francisco) inflation and economic hardships are causing pain for families. Grocery Bills, heating bills in particular, gas. The area food drive is calling for help and the local animal shelter is also running a food drive–not for dogs just in their care, but for the entire area. During the pandemic and resulting lay offs this free food allowed owners to keep their pets. We can even donate/order for the local shelter through Amazon for food, and other dog/cat supplies.
There really needs to be legislation throughout Australia that 1. All dogs need to be desexed before anyone can own a dog and 2. If you are a breeder then your dogs are registered and limit the number of breeding dogs you can have & 3. Those who rent out a property allow pets for heaven sake. I can’t imagine how awful it would be to give up my “kids” because I cannot find a kind hearted landlord. We have a renter and we love the little dog that our renter has and look after her while our renter works. I really feel for Dee & her team
Sam and Luke, I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying these long videos. I’m a caregiver 24/7 to a family member with dementia and don’t have the time anymore of watching a 15/20 minute video from start to finish so with these longer videos I get to have the enjoyment of following you all when a spare moment presents itself during the day. I can’t tell you how much watching your day to day life with your children and the pups brings back some normalcy to my life and lifts the spirit. Of course I can’t go without mentioning The Farm community and how much I enjoy their conversations filled with empathy, insight and joy! Thank you all❤

Hate seeing poor Bandit limping. Part of the problem also is weight restrictions on dogs for rental housing, hotels when you go on vacation. I always will get a big dog due to they are harder to rehome. Thanks Dee and crew. My hearts just breaks for you guys.

HRH limping so bad from the arthritis. Bandit has to go take a rest n his chair or one of the couches. I'm on my hot pad this pm from this horrible scourge of arthritis. I hope the new therapist mayb can help Bandit and relieve any pain that he has. Everybody n the world loves Mr. Bandit.!

I think Maggie constantly looks back at Luke on the bike because she can't hear. Mayb she can only feel vibrations of the bike from the ground. She's such a good girl, Maggie is and a gentle soul.
Ohhh… we were enjoying the big tan/white dogs who are fantastic, and then little chunky white pup bursts in and we all going, ohhhhh, "adopt this pup right now! So adorable…. please let us know there is a home for this puppy sweetheart.

Ever since the day Freddo went into the small pool to get Elle to "save" her he's been one of my favorites. After the break in and taking the of the sweet pup when Elle was really bothered by that, he became her bedtime protector. He won my heart with his vigilance. He's on bathtub watch that nothing happens to his babies. I adore him.

Those cream puffs looked delicious. Kitty Rose is enjoying her alone time and now getting away from her Mates by climbing a tree. Freddo makes a great Nanny/Guard dog while the kidlettes take a bath.

Gosh the shelter dogs are so beautiful, they have so much love an joy at the ready to give all they want is the right dad mum an a home. They are so inocent an didn't ask for what they are going through. I do find it hard to see there need an comment on these days. Words are not enough to change there lives. I hope things change soon in the adopting world. 🐕 🐕🦺
