Spirit Island Solo: Greased Lightning! (Habsburg 6 + Aspect)

SOLO PLAYTHROUGHS’ PATREON PAGE: https://www.patreon.com/soloplaythroughs

In this livestream of Solo Playthroughs, aspects continue to take center stage, as Immense Lightning’s Swift Strike and Shfiting Memory of Ages will take on the Monarchy of Habsburg (Livestock Colony), Level 6. Immense Lightning brings an interesting twist on the spirit, making Lightning no longer defined by tons of card plays (and reclaim loops). But Immense Lightning also has ways to get some elemental boosts which, along with Memory’s assistance and Major Power diving, could make this duo just the force we need to take down the formidable Habsburg colonists. But will this ancient beetle find its powers quick enough? WIll Lightning strike with enough immensity? Join in to find out!

  1. Void on turn 2 would almost certainly have been better slow than fast. You might as well get the chance to gather the next explorers (saving a build on any of coastal lands, jungles, or mountains explore) and an escalation town from land 6 as well. It worked out that using it fast happened to save you a blight in D3 by chance, but this also costs an extra escalation town.

  2. Thank you for the amazing content! This was such a great playthrough. I was wondering how you could bounce back after Sacred Sites Under Threat made Shifting's life really miserable early on and with the Invader cards being what they were (Wetlands-Sands-Sands-Wetlands-Coastal, while 4/6 of the Coastal lands were either Sands or Wetlands)… but you managed to do it! Skips for the win, clearly.

    Some friendly notes:
1:04:26 Ravaging in B3 should have added a Blight since there are adjacent towns (ravaging for 3 damage total). This would have meant that the Blight card flips one turn sooner, which wouldn't have affected Lighting much. I don't know how much of an impact this would have had on Shifting, but not too big I think…?
1:41:20 A very minor "optimization": you could have spent Shifting's Moon marker to get the second level of Observe the Ever-changing World and use it on D1. You add a Beast there with Venomous Spiders and will skip an action dealing damage, which means that the pieces in D1 will change at least twice, getting you two element markers (which would break you even). Though with the event you got, the pieces in D1 changed 3 times so you would have gained 3 markers by spending 1. You could have used this strategy on some later turns too.
2:03:18 You notice that 4 Air on Lighting is pointless and so…
2:03:52 …you could have changed Lighting's "personal" Air (for playing a Major) to an Earth to gain the threshold of Paralyzing Fright.
2:32:11 You definitely had the Fear needed! Lightning played two Majors so could have chosen two pairs of different elements to get the threshold of Paralyzing Fright. Though Venomous Spiders' threshold damage would have got the remaining Fear anyway, so this didn't end up mattering anyway.

Thanks again! Looking forward to the next Spirit Island video already. 😂 (No pressure though)

  3. Great game again and with one of my favourite spirits, Memory!! Question: am I mistaken or do you not get to choose to discard instead of forgetting Power cards for Actions on things like Events and Blight cards? I don't think you had to forget as many powers with Memory…and one more, when you have the option to meet an Event cards requirements (like 4 Fire), can you not claim the 4 Elements for Forgetting but instead discard the card? I have never played it that way but the thought occured to me in this playthrough.
