The Vizards could have been a powerful asset for the Gotei 13 during the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc of Bleach. Instead, they were mostly unsuccessful, and most perplexingly, never used their Hollowfication abilities. Why not? Why do you think the Vizard didn't use their masks in TYBW? Do you agree with any of my theories? Let me know!
Probably the same reason why Ichigo stop using after getting his power back in the fullbring arc.
Maybe kubo just forgot about it.
Shinji did say he was going to make a few changes during the anime and also have some better expose.
Bankai + mask breaks the story and makes the regular captains useless secondary characters.
They did the same thing against Aizen where the Vizards used their masks but not Bankai.
All they needed to do to explain why the Vizards only use their mask OR Bankai is to create a plot device where Ichigo's Quincy reiatsu acts as a stabilizing "glue" that prevents some kind of terrible side effect from using Bankai and a hollow mask at the same time.
So the Vizard captain’s bankai were never even attempted to be stolen, but do you think that’s even possible? We know that for some reason Ichigo’s bankai couldn’t be stolen. Was that because he also has hollow powers, or was it because he’s part Quincy? You’d think that since Vizards have “corrupted” reiatsu, their Bankai couldn’t be stolen either.
my only theory is maybe, just maybe seretei figured out a way to either remove or seal their hollows, my reasoning for this is the amount of times theyve had trouble with ichigo going berserk when part/full hollow mightve given them a good enough reason to why hollowfication is a nono.
though it still doesnt make sense why the other vizards still managed to use their hollow masks in the arc, so they only considered the captain vizards as a danger? it doesnt make sense to me, and knowing theyre dealing with quincies, shouldnt it bee a good idea to give them their hollow powers back?
i assume they would know how quincies react with hollows considering isshin mightve still had connections to soul society when masaki got attacked by white since he was still a captain at the time
Lol we all know the answer to this question, its just fun to theorize. The real answer is that Kubo is a bad writer, I can go on and on about how horribly written Bleach is and its shameless use of pretty much every shonen trope. Bleach is hype as fuck but its not known for its writing, theres a reason Bleach channels like this are so rare lol.
i think them not using it implies they cured it somehow. u kno yamma not lettin dem boyz in SS with hollow masks that shxt was illegal, urahara was banned just for curing it like half way lol boi yall trippin.

Yeah big missed opportunity as it would have been cool to show how the Vizard's had a advantage here others did not, their hollow powers being extremely effective on the quincies.
Would have loved more of their mask action combined with Hollowfied Bankai's from the other Shinigami (for the duration of the arch).
I don’t like the whole “they aren’t allowed to” idea because this was all out war. 2/3 of the Shinigami army has been wiped out in the first few minutes of the Quincy attack you’d think they’d make an exception especially after learning that Ichigo’s Bankai can’t be stolen because of his Hollow powers

4 Case: Kubo had to cut out a lot in the final Arc. There are even more places where it seems to be shorten up a lot.
On the note of Quincies being "allergic" to hollow reiatsu. How did J the Jail absorb Ayon with no repercussions?
Seems to be one of those instances when the authors neglects to mention something that should be ovbious. So what is obvious. Last time they used their masks, Aizen swept the floor with them. And so, perhaps, they lost confidence in the masks abilities. Kensei taking Hisagi out to train with Mashiro would then serve a duap purpose. To train Hisagi, as well as train Mashiro.
I don't know why but for some reason I just assumed because the were using hollow powers for their vizored forms that they can't use their bankai at the the same time I don't know why I thought this but I don't really recall them doing it either but as I have only seen the anime I have no idea about what's happened in the Manga please correct me if I'm wrong
I think it's important to remember that Quincy powers are /designed/ to erase Hollows from existence.
And that it's shown that high-grade Espada can be easily solo'd by the Sternritter. High-grade Espada that beat the crap out of the Vizard.
So going hollowfied for any longer than is needed to get the bankai back is like asking to be completely deleted.
Well seeing as shunsui freed Aizen and had kenpachi learn bankai I doubt he would still have hollow masks restricted for use during war times. Ya know I don’t know if this makes sense
I think that the Vizards didn't use their masks because Quincy have a know method of completely destroying a hollows soul. Although they may have been able to get a power boost wit the masks, I imagine it would also make their opponents more lethal to them. Plus they can steal the Bankai already. They already had a known disadvantage to deal with.
100% Yama didn’t let them use their hollow powers, he refused to let orihime heal his arm im sure he wouldn’t allow the captains to use their hollow powers, Shunsui tho I’m sure won’t give af . He’s willing to use Aizen I’m sure he has no issue using the vizards to their full potential after the tybw
Either Kubo really did forget to utilize their hollow masks or Yamamoto didn't want them to use it and after he died they just kind of followed with what he said even though he's passed I'm pretty sure they were given an ultimatum to use them or not and they chose not to

They did the vizards real dirty during the TYBW arc. Like was there even a single victory among them?
Let’s also not forget the real world issue kubo was having during this arc shonen jump was pushing him extremely hard to finish up his series way faster than he had originally intended I think I recall kubo going on record after it finished stating he had another 30-50 chapters of content planned for the TYBW before it wrapped the way it did

They should have used the Hollow Mask as the plot point to reveal that the Qunicies are deathly allergic to hollow blood. That could have bled into the hollowfies bankai and what not. This kinda stuff is what makes TYBW not be the best arc. It has everything it needs to be the best arc in the series but the details and structure ruin it
