Did These 3 Players Waste Their Prime Staying?
Summer NBA free agency season is in full swing. It’s the talk of sports offseason, and a time in basketball teams use to bolster their rosters for the upcoming fall, make trades that best suit their intentions, and get their fanbases excited about the product they’re about to put on the floor. For players it’s also a chance to reevaluate the season or seasons you’ve finished and also decide which move is best for you and your career. Yes long term contracts are available, so some won’t have to worry much about this time of year, but after seeing what has been transpiring in the last few seasons in the NBA, contracts can and are being broken way early in the players favor. Kevin Durant wants out of Brooklyn. He’s 33 years old, will be 34 in September, just signed a 4 year extension not even a year ago with the team for 4 years $198 million that kicks in this upcoming season. How do we view this? Some say well if you committed to the team by signing the deal, you should be obligated to fulfill your duties outlined in said deal. On the other side some think if you’re not happy as a player, you should be able to leave as you please. After all, teams can trade you anytime so why shouldn’t you essentially trade them if the guidelines talked about before you signed aren’t being followed, whether on paper or verbal commitments. Is Kevin Durant wrong for not being loyal to the Brooklyn Nets after a deal was made? Or should he look at the following 3 players who may have wasted their prime staying on a team too long as good reason he doesn’t want to waste more years in his current championship contending situation? LOYALTY IN SPORTS: Did These 3 Players Waste Their Prime Being Loyal

3 HAll Of Famers, 3 top 75, 20k plus points each no stunted growth here bro, sorry
This day in time a ring is cool but its about that 🎥💰it's when you get to the end of your career that when you get to wanting a ring💯
Dame Just sign a 2 yr Max today!
[Wit the Blazers]
LILLARD needs to get the heck out of Portland. What a waste of loyalty & talent on a team going no where.
MELO forced a trade to NY for the large contract and location. Then refused an offer from Lebron to join MIA w/WADE. Shows what his priorities were.
IVERSON made it to the finals in PHI and tbh NO ONE was winning during that Shaq-Kobe era other than Duncan & DET. AI going to Den w/Melo was his attempt at a ring.
I like your content but KD wasting his prime isn’t a story he is in this situation on his own accord he and that ungrateful human kyrie
All 3 of these ballers dedicated their lives to the game of basketball I'm basketball and got paid doing it in the process creating creating generational wealth for them and your families And 2 of them are still playing in the league.
If you not putting anything me and you Trading away the help I have. It's time to go.
AI wasted his prime not passing the rock and clubbing like crazy
6:35 the 76ers were supposed to get TMAC but Billy King was a halfway crook.
Oyxoyd
Millennials make bad historian. Any player that is a future hall of famer didn’t waste their prime. Not Winning a championship isn’t an indication you wasted your prime. Danny Green got three chips and average player you won’t remember in 10 years.
I really wish Damian would leave the Blazers, especially now after management totally dismantled the team to rebuild. By the time the young guys get good, he will not be much of a factor.
11:25 $60M per. That’s where big dog… he’s not worth that. No accolades justify the contract. Giannis is worth that, Bron, Wardell, not many guys are worth $50M+ per. That’s the best of the best.
Bradley Beal could've easily made this list
I respect Dame for wanting to be loyal to the team that drafted him. I get it. Especially being a fellow Cancerian. We're BIG on loyalty.
At the same time, though. That loyalty needs to be matched by the home squad. Are they giving you players that you can build with to contend for a championship with? Or are you stuck in perpetual mediocrity, since the team has you in a Superman, you can do it all to get us over the hump scenario?
My perspective? If you team is putting you in a position to contend every year – stay. If not? Go somewhere that's going to put you may not be "the man," anymore. I'd rather be a second banana or a role player on a championship team, than "the man" on a team that couldn't get out of their own way.
Dame must’ve forgotten even Kobe asked out at one point, so did Paul pierce. Hell, even Tim Duncan almost let San Antonio. Iykyk
How did Melo “waste his prime being loyal” he pretty much let management know that when they were heading into a rebuilding mode he wanted out!
He (foolishly) believed Phil Jackson could restore The Knicks to relevancy, so he passed on signing with The Bulls. Had he had a crystal ball he would’ve left!
Sorry, but no team is misreported on more than The Knicks!
You reaching now
I think AI didn’t want any other star on 6ers. Could be wrong. By that alone, I would say he didn’t waste his prime.
If you take money over signing with another team, especially when the other team is offering you less money to play with a better team, you didn’t stay because you were “loyal”. You took the money. Carmelo and Dame took the money, it’s cool, but let’s not start acting like these guys want to be here because they love the city.
Melo would have got a ring with George Carl sooner or later
I'm a Rockets fan, but I would absolutely love for Dame to win at least one championship in Portland. No player in the league right now is more deserving than he is. I used to think CP3 was that guy, but after really thinking about it, Dame deserves it more than he does because he plays his heart out each and every single game & sticks with an organization that's trash through thick and thin. I wish he was on my Rockets. He's the kind of guy that I want on my team: Loyal AF, clutch & plays his heart out night in and out.
Allen Iverson was NEVER any generation's MJ. Cant believe you just capped like that 😂 AI a legend and an icon but NEVER was that
One of these guys is in the Hall Of Fame first ballot. I'm sure plenty of players wish they could have this kind of wasted prime.
Loyalty in sports is one of the most overrated things that people bring up. In basketball more often than not it's an argument specifically made to try to discredit LeBron. It's a crock of shit. 🙄
Melo? Hell nah. He wasted some good talent around him tho.
BRO I KNOW MELO FROM THE NUGGETS HE PLAYED LIKE 2 seasons WITH THE KNICKS AND HAD 60 ONCE LITERALLY
WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT HOW BAD OF A PICK DARCO MILLICHIC WAS AND HOW HE THAT BAD PICK ALTERED THE COURSE OF NBA HISTORY FOREVER
MELO WOTH PISTONS 2 or 3 RINGS POSSIBLY
We put to much money on Championship
Blake Griffin got done filthy
Allen iverson was a pure monster 👾 for his size in my opinion the way he dominated and being very athletic is like how (bruce Lee) dominated (martial arts) at his smaller size he should have won atleast 1or 2 championships 🏆🏆
I have to say that “LOYAL” GREAT’s Like KG, MELO(side bar, My Detroit Pistons should have Drafted Carmelo Anthony,Sunn)The Answer aka A.I. & Damien Lillard are Characterized With A RESPECT ✊🏾 🫡 as UNIVERSAL PEOPLES CHAMPS….They’re Loyalty holds more weight than any Player jumping to a Readymade Championship Contender…..Another Sidebar…Mark Jackson deserved and deserves to be a NBA Coach. Peace & Love To DAME
A.I did push hard (pause) for another all star in Philly. I know I'm from Philly and used to read the Philadelphia Inquirer. It got to the point where he even suggested the team pickup an old running mate of his from College since they didn't want to acquire an all star from free agency. That was a constant in his last 4 – 5 years in Philly, him asking for All Star help and they gave him All Stars, All Stars on their last leg 🤷🏾♂️
Melo? Ah. Overated and didn't even have a prime. Slowed down from day one in the league. Mentally.
