As an Iranian living abroad, I knew Bill Burr since the early days (when he had a full head of hair and no beard!). I went to Iran to show his funny stand-ups on YouTube to people like "Yeah, I know so much about American entertainment. Look at this new guy. He's funny…" And people were like, "We know who Bill Burr is." Thanks to YouTube and Social Media, you can't pretend to know more than others anymore. lol… Also, I am disappointed, though not surprised, that Bill doesn't know where Tehran is or what the difference between Iran and Iraq is.

as an Iranian fan of both Conan and Bill, not only do i confirm that they both have huge fanbases in Iran, but also their Shows had helped alot of us, myself included, to get through hard times and brought so much joy into our lives. i wish them both a prolonged, happy and healthy life !

I was in Iran in august for 3 weeks and left right before the protests. Although I am Iranian/American ( however travel on a Europan passport which I am also a citizen of) people are super friendly even to Americans as they know we are not responsible or the "bad guys" who the government dictates we are. Although there are a lot of media restrictions, most folks use a VPN and can see sites and can be in touch with the Western World. Instagram is big there. . So of course, you will be welcomed by the people, it's the government that may have a problem with an American. Iranians are the kindest, most hospitable people in the world.
