North Carolina father Phil Paxson stayed behind to help clean up his daughter’s birthday party at a friend’s house. He had a short drive to the house he recently moved into. But Paxson was unfamiliar with the roads, so his family says he followed the GPS. His family believes the GPS directed him to cross a small bridge that hasn’t existed since 2013. Paxson drove right off the road, plunging 20 feet into the ravine. His body was later discovered inside of his partially submerged vehicle.

Driving an uber, I've so many times been told to take a road that didn't exist. Be mindful of your surroundings and don't entrust your safety to a machine.

The GPS is at fault??? People how come if the bridge has been in this condition had this road not been barricade off years ago. That is negligence.
This came in my recommendation after I had what I called "The worst birthday ever" but this poor girl had it so much worse losing her dad on her birthday man… I'm really thankful for the day I had yesterday now.

That’s why you have to be extra cautious while traveling in unfamiliar roads/areas… I’m a motorcyclist and if I wasn’t as cautious and followed certain codes I would not be here
US is failing state. Almost nine years nobody bothered to fix it or block it. And GPS is not a reliable source when it comes to navigating in unfamiliar territories.
So the City or county didn’t think to put barrier there….SMH.
GPS is responsible so is the city and the state. Why have law enforcement if they do NOT protect the citizens. This was EASILY PREVENTABLE

Oh wow this is very tragic and horrible for the children and the wife for the whole family I'm so sorry for your loss I'm even in disbelief wow I just can't believe it either they need to shut that bridge off in any roads like that their GPS system and wherever he was whatever state and city he was in they need to update it big time the updated where I live even have shortcuts and everything on the GPS this is just horrible poor man lost his life due to people not keeping up with it with the GPS systems updated
If you’re stupid enough to drive off a bridge and to be staring at your phone looking at a guided route without even checking your surroundings is retarded. Also, how fast was he’s driving to go off that bridge it seems like not very fast because if he was going faster, he would’ve covered more distance so he was going slow enough to probably see that, but was probably looking at his phone like an idiot. I have no sympathy. We have a lot of people on this planet, people come and go most y’all would never even be known to exist.💯

Keyword, Jeep! Stop driving these death traps. If he were driving a normal truck or car, he probably would have survived. In terms of legal action they have every right to. Since this is private someone owns it therefore should have taken the time to either barricade it or put up signs. 100% preventable. What a tragic end for the husband.
