  3. Bravo Simon! After so many ‘doom and gloom’ channels and stories that chip away at my soul, you come up with a story about the deadliest drug currently produced!
    Seriously though, I do applaud you for bringing some sobering facts to the forefront – the public needs to know about these killer opiates and I hope that lives will be saved because of this episode.

  4. Almost 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses last year alone. This is a shocking number, a real crisis, not a media-fabricated crisis. The news media has almost nothing to say about it. Our country is being deliberately hollowed out.

  17. As someone with chronic nerve pain that was well controlled using prescription narcotic maintenance. The 'opioid epidemic' has destroyed my life. Most people who have been injured are familiar with the '0 to 10 pain scale' . I was on hydrocodone with Tylenol or Ibuprofen as a maintenance medication. I took LESS than the normal 'every 4 to 8 hours' dose and if the hydrocodone amount was increased I had to phase into it using Benedryl to avoid vomiting for the first 2 to 3 weeks. I found out after an emergency c-section that Percocet (Tylenol with oxycodone) took the pain level down quite a bit with NO side effects … even at half-pill dose. No high. No nausea and vomiting. With maintenance narcotics my every day pain level averaged 4 to 5. With NO narcotic maintenance my average DAILY pain level is 7 to 8. Think about that … the TOP of the pain scale is TEN. 7 or 8 would send most people to the emergency department. When I literally broke the bottoms of both lower leg bones OFF and the ankle and shin were no longer attached the pain level went to 10. But the INCREMENTAL difference was negligible. That's when I found out I'm MORPHINE RESISTANT. What this means is they gave me a shot of morphine. The pain level dimmed to MAYBE a 9 for FIVE MINUTES and I developed an awful headache. They gave me a second shot … with the same result. My body does NOT accept and process ANY -morphone derivative including straight morphine. It has NO EFFECT on pain. This also means HEROIN would have no effect for me.

    But I can't get pain relief because of the 'pill mill bills' all over the US. If I get prescribed Percocet I take half pills at the absolute minimum frequency to dull pain. That way I can have medication for days when my pain level goes above 8. But I go to get pain medication very rarely because then I look like I'm 'drug seeking'. I can't work. I can't even keep house because back pain sidelines me after 10 to 15 minutes of cleaning and I have to rest for at least TWO HOURS before I can resume cleaning. This means I can't even put a half load of dishes into a dishwasher without having to rest. But at least the opioid addicts can't go to a pain management clinic to get high. I was told by pain management that a level of 7 to 8 meant my pain IS MANAGED.

    THINK ABOUT THAT. Really … think about it. I am the only caregiver for a 16 year old son after my husband died of cancer and bateremia in August. My son takes care of ME more than I take care of him and has for most of his life.

    We're all headed there, why not enjoy the day ?
    You don't know who might want to die and or they certainly aren't afraid and they don't blow their anal gland when they think about dying….
