Hey that's Glenwood springs kum & go. Weird that it doesn't have 89 gas, lived there for four years of my life. Absolutely beautiful town. Gorgeous views. 45 minutes from aspen.
Had me nervous almost heading into EPA Superfund site. Lol Probably not the safest spots to visit. There's a reason no one is allowed to live there anymore.
Adam, you need to hitup the Georgetown loop when its running, its awesome – https://youtu.be/VCu0npgIDI8 – there is 2 other really neat railroads in colorado, durango and silverton in durango (the most famous, they filmed the bridge jump from butch cassidy and the sundance kid) and around the world in 80 days, the old one, durango and silverton is the most impressive one in operation – worth a trip to silverton a REAL old west town https://youtu.be/6Ww0_-j1CJc , and finally, Cumbres and toltec, the most laid back one where you can look at most of their equipment, they let you wonder the yard, and one of the most authentic rides, if you go on certain times they will even let you run one of the engines, no joke – you need to grab justin and do this together lol https://youtu.be/WIjI3ShK2Wo seriously worth it (its near chama, southern colorado), would make a heck of a vlog https://youtu.be/EIKxoZlE_pk – https://cumbrestoltec.com/about-us-2/engineer-fireman-school-2/ colorado has some of the best old skool live steam engine operations in the world (it's even the same gauge track as dollywood but bigger trains) – just a thought on something I know you would thoroughly enjoy
Ooooo.. another place to visit when I go..cripple creek was a nice town to visit…mostly gambling there….but the train ride was a great way to learn some history of the town ….It made me yearn for the Disney Train since the size was about the same 🥺.. .I’ve really enjoyed these vlogs even though I was just there last week….I can’t wait to plan my next CO trip ….hopefully gas will be cheaper 😬🤞🏻🤞🏻 ❤️from Tx
"No Name", a tiny community just outside Glenwood Springs inside the canyon, was named when a map maker "temporarily" inserted "No Name" as a place holder on the map until they learned the real name of the community. But there is no other "real name", so "No Name" stuck and is still used today.
Seriously Adam your videos are just what's needed after a stressful week! We've been in Silver Plume to do the Georgetown Loop tour. It's a shame you didn't get to do it. That short train ride was one of my most favorite things to do on our vacation travels and we're from the Midwest and travel a lot. We really love your channel, and have been long time viewers. I hope you'll consider writing a book, you have seen so much of our nation!
I am from Colorado it was nice to see our state from someone else eye and what we take for granted. Also to let you know Georgetown was in a movie call the Christmas gift staring John Denver
Cool my husband and i took a road trip to Avon and Eagle a couple of years ago. Beautiful scenery!!! Also side note that Rio Grande Caboose is a orginal as you can get the caboose on a train was used for train crew to rest on long trips 2 engineers a switchman plus those seats ontop were for the firemen to watch for burning embers from oldtime locomotives back when you had a lumber tinder behind the locomotive and all rail cars were made of wood. Trains serviced cabooses out by the mid eighties.
That was an insane story about the Montgomery Biscuits guy. I've been in Silver Plume many times and I know exactly where that hotel is. It's not exactly bustling there. Wild.
Just so you know in the future, Whenever you run across an area fenced off with the signs "EPA SUPERFUND SITE" that means everything is contaminated with highly toxic crap stay away. Great vid keep 'em coming.
Adam, you mentioned some of these areas should be used in movie locations…some of the river scenes reminds me of Vacation…where Clark rents the tents at Kamp Comfort….looks very similar to some of those scenes…the river and mountain views. Great video as always. It's nice to see places I've never been.
If you drive over Red Mountain Pass you can stop at an abandoned company town with some houses still standing. Last time I went over there (2020) you could still walk down to the houses and get a good up close look.

(September 14, 2021) – Today, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the deletion of a portion of the Eagle Mine Superfund site in Minturn, Colorado, from the National Priorities List (NPL). The deleted part of the site consists of the abandoned mining Town of Gilman Operable Unit 2 (OU2) which covers approximately 50 acres and includes an estimated ninety buildings within its boundaries.
Did you miss the part of that sign that said "Superfund Site"? It's a toxic waste site. Gilman is designated as a Superfund site due to toxic substances that are airborne and orange sludge that seeps from the ground. …that's why it's abandoned and fenced off.

O my gosh I have noticed the last couple months you been getting thin and kinda got a pea green glow around you at night think you have been in contact with small amounts of lumunis metals better get checked out used to be an old doctor in downtown San Francisco but I'm sure he's gone now but had some younger ones he worked with they were experts on it but hurry it may be already too late sit down Atom you may already be a a dead man walking sorry but please hurry you still may well you know be sure to call your dad anyway. I grew up in Ruidoso NM in the late 70's and early 80's. That small village you found reminded me of NM
I used Oxydol to wash clothes when I got married. I still use Clabber Girl baking powder. Those houses are probably used as ski huts in the winter.

I used to live in Silver Plume. At one time they had a place right on the main street that made food fired pizza. Don't know if it's still there
it would be nice if you stopped and talked to a local once in a while.
