Ok but how does Ghost Ship factor into all of this?
Many here missed the Main Point..The Chinese does not have the Anglo Saxon aspiration to Rule the World …( The British Empire tag line..The Sun never sets in the British Empire) It is sole ambition is to keep Outsiders out of the second Island chain …With Stockpiles of thousands of ballistics and hypersonic missiles that can provide saturation firepower over concentrated areas…The Fujian and other Chinese Warships are not needed for the heavy lifting..more for picking up the pieces..
The military balance is so obviously shifted…In 1995 during a similar flareup ..US sailed 2 Carrier Battle Group through the Taiwan strait …today it sail two 40 year old warships scheduled for demobilization within next 2 to 4 years through the strait whereas it neasrest Carrier Battle Group is nearly 1000 km East of Taiwan Coast…
The Chinese has well invested in the various Dong Feng ( East Wind ) Missiles which aptly tells you where it will strike..East…from DF 17 to DF 41…with various ranges all the way up to US mainland..
The Chinese next major upgrades are likely to be in the nuclear deliverable warheads area…where US is clearly superior but looking at The Chinese 1.5 Billion population Industrial capability..this will narrow in no time.
We hope it will never reach a point where Nuclear capable superpowers clash in a all out conflict….We just want to live a Happy and prosperous life…

Corporate America has sold out America in the following ways. 1) reducing Traid tarrifs starting 34 years ago. 2) setting up manufacturing plants in China to exploit cheap labor. 3) allowing Chinese students to enter our best Universities and colleges.. corporate America set out to create a middle class in China. And greatly reduced the America middle class in the process. 3 dollars paid to an American worker is going to have 9 times the economic benefits. 1 dollars paid to China for cheap stuff has 0 benefits.
30 years later we spend trillions trying to stay ahead of China. The US owes China money. China supports North Korea and North Vietnam. Costing American lives. The America corporate world has no love for America

So refuelling is still necessary for nuclear carrier because it will need jet fuel and supplies for crew. Still an advantage over conventional carrier at the expense of cost.
Aircraft carriers are obsolete
US has the military edge across the board. China has the unity and desire. China wins any war with the US.

How many times can these things resupply their planes with fuel and weapons? Say, every plane launched comes back with an empty fuel tank and out of all ammo/missiles.

The Civil War balloons used hydrogen for their lifting gas, not hot air.
China can build a carrier in a few years. They won't develop the skills and technique to efficiently operate a carrier force for decades. They can't steal that from the internet. They have to work for it.
Fujian is named after a province but so is Shandong, maybe it is nearly a naming convention and not a cryptic threat against Taiwan?
USA needs "boots on ground" as they don't have hypersonic TECHNOGY. China does not need to get close and rush a button in China and hit USA in under 30 minutes. Check Dong Feng 41 paraded in 2019 and surely its not most advanced

On paper yes the technology is even, but the U.S. has a few huge advantages. The first being aircraft superiority. The Chinese don't have a stealth carrier based fighter, the U.S. is already integrating them. China also has no carrier experience, give an infantry commander tanks, him and his men will be useless because they have no experience. Lastly The U.S. carrier is far ahead in its development cycle, and from Nimitz and Enterprise the US learned vauble lessons China still hasent.
The tower on the Chinese ACC looks like a terrible design, a few good hits to the base and its down.

The most important factor in a war between great powers is latent industrial power. Germany thought Russias backwards economy could not provide the technical know how that Germanys could and they were right. Germany was far ahead technically but they just outproduced Germany (with our help of course). The lesson is that “quantity has a quality of its own”. China could field fleets and fleets of carrier task forces. We however have lost our industrial capacity to China.

China probably stole most of the technology they have from others…just like on Amazon all the Chinese copycat sellers who copy successful products of others (or in some cases steal exact designs). They are good at stealing stuff
