Russian forces are in danger of being cut off in the south of Ukraine by advancing Ukrainian forces, according to a Sky News military analyst.
Ed Arnold, a former British Army and NATO officer, and research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, says the Ukrainians are focussing on cutting communication lines between Russian soldiers, forcing them to retreat.

The Ukrainian army will be overextended and depleted while Russian forces will be poised for renewed assaults.
There are few options left for Ukraine and its sponsors and none of them (save for negotiations) are good.
One option is the West establishing a buffer zone on the ground and corresponding no-fly zone above what's left of Ukraine in much the same way the US seized and occupies eastern Syria.
The West may believe a precedent exists and having deconflicted successfully before with Russia, this is a viable option.
Kiev is making requests that appear to be creating the rhetorical framework to begin the process.
I have said that Ukraine's offensive will reach its end and Kiev will be more vulnerable than ever necessitating the West to choose between increasingly dangerous options (like creating a buffer zone in Ukraine) or to abandon its proxy war.

I am much impressed by Zelensky. He is doing what he needs to…to recover the lost lands of Ukraine. He is not attacking Belarus or mainland Russia. If he attacks Crimea is because Ukraine, even prior to Zelensky, has never recognized the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

UN and world leaders failed to call for a moratorium on all discussions, all talks of Ukraine seeking entry into NATO, into EU, etc. The weeks leading to the war were filled with pleas and warnings from Russia, the massive war games, etc. But the world lost that window to halt the war.

Many, if not most, of these "experts" keep saying that when winter comes everything will come to a halt. I think they are very wrong. I think the Ukrainians will continue the push and not let up on the Russians. To do otherwise is to give the Russians time to regroup in many areas or aspects of the war. By that I mean troop mustering and training, defensive positions, equipment deployment and repair, supply manufacturing and delivery. All that and more. It is up to the Western nations to keep up and increase supplies to Ukraine on every front possible. The Russians can not match our supply and Ukrainian determination.
