ak-12 has troubles like the gas port from the barrel to the gas tube is 90 degrees making cleaning harder (specially troublesome because russia uses corrosive ammo), the safety level and be overturned, they could have just added rails to already existing ak-74 or 100 series, etc

Just another gun, gun nerds will get wet or angry but alas its just another murder weapon. That instead of being aimed at one of the masses, why are they not aimed at heads of state and commanders. Those in power would soon loose the apietite for war.

Honestly the AK-12 is a good gun , the platform is one of the most reliable in the world and just adding rails and such too it really has no downsides . Russia cant really supply large amounts of them however so its not like the Ukrainians who have access to an absolute swamp of various weapons now are at much of a disadvantage in the field .

So Russia adopts this but can’t afford to issue them with optical sights and lasers to there troops in combat, what’s the point then? The US military relies heavily on lasers and optical sights cause its proven.
I'll keep my akm. Yeah its a bit dated but its a sweet sweet rifle plus it has the mount on the side of the receiver to add an optic if I wish to do so.

Wants to learn more about AK-12? Watch 9Hole Reviews, Brandon Herrera, Polenar Tactical and Oxide videos about it. From what we have seen, Ak-12 doesnt matter since Russia army doesnt modify AK-12's. We rarely see a photo with a example of one with a 1P87 for example
Just go look up the reviews on this rifle… This is a step back. The 107 with modern upgrades is a better rifle.
From the footage of the last seven months it appears less than half of Russian troops have an optic. So having a rail is a moot point if you have nothing to mount on it. In contrast over half of Ukrainian troops seem to have an optic. But the best picture I’ve seen is of Ukrainian medics given Krinkovs – the ultimate spray and pray weapon – no aiming or optics required. Check out the Russian MOD released footage from Day 1 VDV at Hostemel. Not even all their paras have optics.
The selector tension mechanism is frankly a downgrade, the optics rail mounts wear out in a couple thousand rounds. The handguard wobbles and cracks easier than the AK 74M. Somebody half assed the entire design and especially the production.
The original AK47 was a strong robust and reliable assault rifle, I used a Romanian model AKM with side folding butt for a couple of years while working in Iraq and it never let me down. The more complex they make the AK the less reliable and robust it will become. The AK47 wasn't very accurate and fitting a sight unit is a waste of a sight unit that could be used on a more accurate weapon. The more gadgets you fit on a rifle, the heavier it will become, and the more difficult to hold steady in the aim. Fitting torches and lasers etc will just make a soldier easier to spot and kill. Just my opinion as a former Royal Marine and French Legionnaire.
