The world of Avatar wouldn’t be anything without… well… The Avatar. Unified with the spirit of Raava, the Avatar serves as the bridge between the spirit and physical worlds and is the only person capable of bending all four elements. Also, due to their connection with Raava, the Avatar reincarnates through the cycle of elements Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, reborn into each nation successively. The Avatar has been reincarnated an unknown number of times, but the Avatar Wiki estimates that there have been approximately 133 Avatars from Wan to Korra. We don’t know them all, but that won’t stop us from telling you everything we do know about the ones that have been recorded.
