I would like to question the stall attitude vs the in the ring attitude. The horse is a cribber, and the owners have a wooden piece on the wall where they tie him and his hay is there, and he cribs constantly. This action gives him a "high" and I believe he is demonstrating a drug induced "anger" about being handled. MHO put a cribbing strap on him and see if his stall manners improve. I have one who is cranky when his strap is off his neck, under saddle it is not a problem, but he will snake his neck at people when he is in a stall with no strap on his neck. This horse in the video starts to have an adjustment in his attitude with Steve, most horses will be likeable with Steve works with them. But, I would love to see him in a stall without that wooden cribbing aid on the wall, and no endorphins surging because he sucking air like a fire bellow.
Fascinating how quickly the horse realized "Whoa… here's a leader. Yes, sir!" — I was wondering if was pain or sensitive skin from a rough brush as a factor. — Years ago a beautiful gelding Peruvian Paso was having vet check started in his stall & bit the vet tech ripping his jacket. The owner was a little old lady who gave the horse treats all the time. She was not there at the time. We called & told her that we stopped the vet check & decided not to buy the horse. She was shocked. We did not want to deal with a potentially aggressive horse, as thought was out of our ability to handle. I wonder what happened to the horse. He was gorgeous & well trained. Maybe was just a bad day for horse? Glad they were able to sort out the horse with your help.
Loved watching you help this pretty horse, he was just stunning without the pinny ears (steve u also have lovely ears lol) . How smart him and Marilyn looked together, she looked fabulous cantering around, what a lovely pair they make. Now she can confidently know how to deal with this behaviour, this will b sorted in no time:)
This horse has the most expressive ears that I've ever seen. It's almost like I can see what he's thinking by looking at what his ears are doing. He is a very pretty horse and he looks like a lovely horse to ride. He's quite responsive and I liked his spins. I really enjoyed watching Steve work him.
Oh that is nice you showing the area I was born in Tewksbury. We moved to Australia when I was 3 years old, I don’t remember, but my parents talk fondly of Tewksbury, Cheltenham and Gloucester. Thankyou
There is always physiological problem at the base if cribbing weaving and wind sucking. Even the way he walks and moves is stiff stilted and clearly uncomfortable for him, hope this lady gets a body worker to him.

I noticed on the left side of the horse body where stirrup would go, is a dark spot, but not on the right side, could he have had a fall and hurt himself

What an absolutely lovely horse, I absolutely adore him. Thank goodness he has ended up in the ownership of these couple and they’ve asked for help. He could be so very easy mishandled and end up in the wrong hands. One thing for me, I would definitely remove that wooden strip that is within his reach when he’s tied up. It seems to serve no purpose apart from it being very easily accessible to him when he is tied up, then there is absolutely no temptation for him. Well done Steve and the lovely couple, you’ve got a lovely boy there. ❤🇩🇰

A disrespectful horse is a dangerous horse. The only way to make a horse respect you is to make him accept he is low man on the totem pole. You put him there and keep him there. He'll be a happier and safer horse when he knows his place in the universe – below every human on Earth.

I am going to be completely honest. That is a really nice horse….sensitive, and looking for a leader. Sometimes horses need a different leader. If it were me, there are many horses out there, I would find a different house. There are sweet horses out there that wouldn't hurt anyone. These two older people need a horse like that. This horse needs to be matched up to someone who is a leader. As soon as Steve took over, his attitude changed….I just don't see either of these owners, at this stage in their lives, being a leader like that….AND there is nothing wrong with that. They may be very experienced but this just isn't a good match.
