More than a dozen United States states are considering following California’s lead to ban the sale of new petrol-fuelled vehicles by 2035 to reduce fuel consumption.

  1. Only the stupid liberal looser states will try this. Ridiculous. They give you a $7,500 credit to buy a $70,000 car! Then you’ll need to replace the $26,000 battery every 4-10 years. Then, you need to put in your own charging station. Most families have more than two cars. Charging 2-4 cars every night????

  2. California is a damn dumpster fire. They have so many more critical issues other than banning gas cars. How about the failing power grid? Out of control crime? Homelessness? Crushing state debt in the state with the 2nd highest taxes? Passenger cars only account for about 6% of emissions, so yeah, just give people another reason to leave. And you will still have all your real problems remaining.

  3. What about planes? What about the rockets that send satellites into orbit so we can have propaganda television? If the folks on television didn't convince people to consume, consume and consume some more our planet would be in a lot less jeopardy. Just because we have China manufacture nearly all of our goods doesn't make us any less responsible for the environmental pollution caused by their factories? We're supposed to give up food but continue to buy the plastic crap shown on TV. It is so hypocrite of people on TV to criticize gas powered vehicles and then show commercial ad after commercial ad of the new gas powered vehicle you need to go buy.

  4. Over a million people are expected to leave California, just this year. California has lost so many people in the last several years, their representation in congress is declining. They can't even keep the lights on. & tell EV owners not to charge their vehicles during self inflicted rolling blackouts….

  5. This ridiculous woke attitude towards banning fossil fuel vehicles and replacing them with EV's isn't going to solve anything, except for driving up the household cost of living bills. The idea behind the Net-Zero emissions policy in theory is only going to be sustainable to top up the power supply grid and the only way to produce enough electricity for a growing population is for Government's across the Globe to invest in Clean fired Coal powerplant's and Nuclear energy powerstations for a constant supply of power. The amount of resources that have to be extracted from the earth to build EV's is only going to be achieved using diesel fueled machinery which then needs to be processed in large factories, to make the battery packs, chassis, body parts, tyres, interiors, glass, etc and the life of any rechargeable battery is only about 3 to 5 years which means a huge cost to replace and disposal of the expired batteries. I don't disagree with cutting down on CO2 emissions and other pollution us humans create, but entering into a world of totally Green Power supply isn't going to be enough to keep the lights on and businesses to be able to manufacture the goods we all require without a steady supply of electricity. Australia is still exporting our coal and iron ore to China, who is a threat to our national security, for them to use in their coal fired powerplant's, so that they can produce steel from our iron ore and build bigger factories to produce goods that boost their economy, to export across the globe, while we sit back in Australia and sell our coal / uranium for others to have power, instead of using it here to build Mega factories so Australia can be a key player in globally exporting goods manufactured on our home soil. Our Woke Governments have gotten it so wrong for too many years to appease overseas countries by selling our valuable resources , instead of reopening our steel works to produce quality steel, to build clean coal fired powerplant's, nuclear power facilities and build factories to invite foreign investors to produce their goods in Australia, by offering them the security of a constant electricity supply. The Albanese Government should have already torn up any agreement it has with China on exporting our coal /iron ore and the lease agreement with the port of Darwin should have been put through the shredder years ago, because anyone who threatens our national security or defense is not a welcome trading partner.

  6. a futile and silly effort… why dont governments do what can be done now, instead of fantasizing a future… there is not enough battery material on earth to replace all current cars, the technology is not mature, and you need electricity to power these vehicles which world is already struggling with.. instead, go for smaller and more efficient engines, there are plenty of 1.2 liter or similar engines that are more than capable of pushing a sedan to 200kmh speeds… what else do you need? first do what can be done, then plan for future.. forcing industry to switch too early and sudden brings massive pressure to mining and processing, which again means more emission and higher prices.. arent you tired of shooting yourself on the leg
