Why Eramis will betray the Witness! Destiny 2 Lore | Myelin Games

Today’s Destiny 2 Lore episode explores Eramis, the Eliksni leader from House Salvation. Eramis has a rich backstory dating all the way back to the Eliksni whirlwind. She is a strong character, and one that I do not think will be easily controlled by the Witness.

  1. More and more I’m not liking the Traveler. Sure it gives civilizations a golden age but pretty much dooms them. Seeing how low the Eliksni had to stoop to survive after the whirlwind is just sad. Eramis kinda has a point about not depending on the light or dark

  2. The funny thing about the Drifter saying we’d be like the Fallen if the Traveler left is that we literally did that in Witch Queen.

Savathun brought the Traveler into her Throne World and the Vanguard told us to literally murder everything (including Guardians) to get it back. Not for the Traveler’s sake, but for Humanity’s.

  3. yeah I never believed that Eramis will be elevated as a Disciple of the Witness. Her hatred of the Traveler & Humanity isn't instinctual or pure, nor religious. It's a societal hatred. She wants to maintain the Eliksni society, which we know is not the Witness' goal.
I think Fikrul fits the bill better here.

Eramis is also projecting her faliures though, which is def part of her intended character arc. She condemns the Traveler for abandoning her people, yet she also did the same during the Long Drift: She abandoned the socialist objective of her og House's culture by no longer helping those in need; straight up following the Traveler's example during the Whirlwind.

She has already abandoned the spiritual connection to machines, a traditional virtue of the Eliksni, which was inspired by the Traveler's presence, & that's gonna be the minimum deviation from the Path of Light. As such I agree, I don't see her ally with us yet, nor stick around for the Witness.
Instead, I think she'll try to eject herself & her people from the Light vs Dark feud. I can actually see her rather ally with the Dead Orbit in that regards, than with us. & who knows, she might make her title justice & steal a Pyramid ship along the way, as a rebellion against the Witness.

Personally I believe the Disciple that will be raised from Europa is gonna be Clovis.

  4. I’m slightly worried that Bungie will just kill her off (probably via Missraks) at the end of the season as some kind of pay off. But I really REALLY want her to stick around- maybe even get resurrected as an Eliksni Guardian.

  5. Instead of eramis being ressurescted, what if it's her wife/mate? Her mate then chooses the house of light over eramis's house despite not having any memories? At the same time eramis becomes a disciple and we kind of have a story of two former lovers on opposite sides that unfortunately have to fight or join one or the other.

  6. Like all houses I believe the House of Dancers evolved into one of the houses we knew and fought against. Because Eramis herself was part of the House of Devils, I believe that the Dancers turned into the Devils. Much like how the House of Wolves used to be the House of Weavers or “Gentle Weavers”

  7. I'm glad Bungie decided to use Eramis for this season, and gave her more lore. In Beyond Light, she was just another boss for us to kill/beat. If you didn't read the lore. Even so, the lore about her was scarce. It's amazing to see her getting more of a backstory to better explain her motivation. I'm liking her character more, now that I see more of her motivation. She wants to save and uplift her people, and doesn't want them dependent on anyone or anything.
