Just looking at the plans I see where this is going.
I… I don't know what to say when appropriate action is taken by authorities following a tragedy
…
Always love your fascinating stories. Love the intro music too.
Have you done a video on Woodstock 99? It was a crazy mess with a few people getting killed and many more injured due to those in charge only being concerned with making a profit.
I recall another of these videos where the root problem was the polar opposite: dead load accounted for, live load ignored…
Impressive response by Singapore's government. And well done to the tunnel crews…
Home in, not hone in.
Wait. A story that ended with everyone taking responsibility that was supposed to. Not playing the blame game and instead fixing the problem and additionally taking steps to prevent it from happening again…. Am I on the right channel?
The government response is surprising… But not for Singapore
They get stuff done
Did not expect they rescued so many…look at Surfside, where basically no one got rescued, and the exact same hazards as well
You are honestly my fav channel. Thanks for existing bro
Beware the Ides of March
The moral of this story in-parts plus more:
Do not go into buildings higher than two stories.
Stay on terra firma — getting not into any thing having wings or propellers or lighter-than-air lifting schemes, as what goes up slowly, can easily come down fast and land hard.
Do not get into any conveyance that cannot go backwards.
Do not use public conveyances that are enclosed; for they are petri dishes for disease.
Those are just for 'beginners'. More to come.
Singapore is ranked as the least corrupt country in Asia, and the fourth least corrupt country in the world. They are ranked the third safest city in the world. They have nearly zero violent crime there and very little crime in general. They maintain order and this is a huge part of why they are so rich and successful.
Love your videos and I’m always excited to learn when you upload! Would you ever consider doing a video on the Fern Hollow Bridge collapse in Pittsburgh? Pretty recent, but really interesting in terms of negligence for infrastructure (from what I remember, 175 total bridges in the city are labeled as “poor condition.”
This was interesting thanks 🖤
Love your content. Would you consider making a video about 1985 Mexico's earthquake? Hugs from Mexico. 💕🐱
I'm surprised a building of that size only trapped 50 people inside. When I heard it was a hotel, I really thought the death toll would be much higher.
This is IDENTICAL to the tower in Florida that collapsed recently! Garage below, the cement pillars, the open spaces on the first floor, etc. It didn't have the balconies, though, one differential but it collapsed the identical way, due to internal stress on a few of the columns.
Tommy was a real hero
The engineer is fortunate not to have a death on his conscience!
Weird how only 50 people were in the hotel when it collapsed but the newspaper reported 100 trapped, lol.
Ah yes blame it on the draftsman not the designer or the engineer or the authorities that's suppose to check the calculations.
How could there only be 50 people in a 6 story hotel?
I remember seeing this in seconds from disaster
Similar to the Sampoon Dept. Store in Seoul, S. Korea?
It’s so refreshing to hear a collapse story where everyone involved took things seriously and tried their best to make positive changes going forward. Thanks for sharing
As a malaysian I'm glad Singapore left us. Or else they wouldn't be as advanced as today 💕
"Draftsmen" do not engineer buildings; engineers and/or architects do. What you describe was not a drafting error, it was an engineering error. Who was the engineer in-charge? It had to be someone, but you fail to say. That was the person who made the fatal error, whoever he/she was.
Eerie how similar this tragedy is to the Korean mall that collapsed. Once you mentioned air conditioning units on the roof, I knew where it was going…
this is no knock to you but could you try one of these without music? feel like it would add to the spooky vibes
bruh why would you ever being in a building that's gonna collapse bruh?
Only 36 seconds in and I'll just assume the disaster was caused by greed/corruption, incompetence, negligence, shoddy building codes, laziness, or piss-poor design/engineering. Or all of the above in some combination.
This just lends further credence to my idea of just avoiding tall buildings and megastructures in general. Uh uh not gonna do it.
Only a 100% MORON would continue working in a building
where cracks were appearing in the support columns.
I guess that they were waiting for an "official" evacuation order that never came.
Such an awesome video! You remain a constant inspiration to my crime channel <3
Turn down the music bro
Interestingly Singapore demolished other incorrectly designed buildings while Israel (as I recall from one of your other videos) still hasn't.
Your narration style is better and better.
I grew up in Singapore and this was probably the first news items that I remember. It was horrible incident but our Singapore's civil engineering grew up real fast from this incident.
This is how authorities should respond to disasters.
None of us knows if we have even one more day to live. Isn't that remarkable. Make every day count!
Can you do 9/11 for a request!
1:56 "Heavy equipment was stored on the roof" mark the square on your Fascinating Horror bingo cards!
So excited to see this as a Singaporean fan! Thanks for covering this so nicely
Maybe you should have a look at the CTV building that stood in Christchurch New Zealand.
