Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I’m your host Paul aka the guy who gets away with Mordor and this video we’re breaking down Rings Of Power Episode 3. After everyone loved our last breakdown…loved it…I thought we’d dive back into the show for everyone who’s still watching to bring you everything you need to know about the characters, callbacks and our thoughts on the entry.
I’m gonna give a spoiler warner for some stuff in the series but there’ll be no future twists or turns revealed. However if a character pops up in the main Lord Of The Rings films series then I think that they’re fair game to talk about so check out now if you don’t want those connections confirmed. This is mainly referring to Elendil and Isildur who we already see what happens to in the Fellowship of the rings. Super long disclaimer but yeah just gotta preface the video with that before we dive into it all.
With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let’s get into The Rings Of Power episode 3.

Now this episode is called Adar which is the name of a corrupted Elvish warlord who has been described as being one of the main antagonists of this series. He pops up at the end of the entry and he’s played by another Game Of Thrones alumni in Joseph Mawle. So so far we’ve got Young Ned Stark, Uncle Ben…not that one…and Old Ned Stark all being tied to Lord Of The Rings stuff. My brain is f**king f**ked from the lore of these two series and at this point I feel like they’ve replaced the memories of my family…even my beloved uncle…uncle DaemonI think his name was. What.
Now Both episode 1 and 2 were kind of absent of villains other than the ones we saw briefly like Sauron. Adar is a completely new character for the show and a corrupted elf is an interesting way to take things that we haven’t seen before.
The entry opens with an orc saying for Adar and this is brought full circle by his introduction at the end.
Elves are usually on the side of good but there are some that end up committing bad acts which has been seen in a number of characters. Feanor ended attacking elves in an event known as the Kinslaying which might have been teased at last week. Now that took place in the Silmarillion and as many of you pointed out on our last video Amazon doesn’t actually own the rights to that.

I don't know what everyone is watching but the show I watched was a disjointed mess with unlikeable characters (especially galadriel she is just the most annoying person ever) terrible plot I mean oh let's just jump in the sea and hope for the best or oh look I found a bit of paper that explains the bad guy whole plan I am exasperated by this show it is very pretty but unbelievable stupid

I love it when Galadriel went into Rivendell running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. On top of that she went to Harry’s and bought 3 T66 turbos with motec exhausts…
The visuals on this show are stunning. I think all would agree, but the show is moving too slow, needs to pick up the pace! Someone like myself who is a huge LOTR fan when it comes to the movies, I've never read the books or the Silmarillion. So i'm very oblivious to many of the details you go over in these videos. I would argue that the majority of the people watching the show, have not done that reading either. So I wish the show would do a little more explaining about places, characters & story lines. I feel that I don't enjoy the episode as much, then I watch your review and go WOW, now I love it, because I understand it.
Unfortunately I feel like this show has been a letdown for so many. Though the expectations were unbelievably high and HOD has really been owning the spotlight.

That’s why I always look at your reviews, because you go into things with an open mind. And what things happen on the outside don’t shake how you see the episodes.
Theory- the stranger is neither Sauron or Gandalf but a balrog? They do/can take human form and they said the balrogs would make an appearance..then we have all the references to fire.

I really enjoy the series so far. It's world building is slow, but it's clearly building for something.
Please keep making these videos. I enjoy them so much, I like seeing the things I missed and help make things/events mean more.
Someone needs to make a better show based on Tolkien's work and pitch it to every streaming company. It wouldnt take much to beat this pos. That being said, I will watch Friday to see if it picks up any at all, or if the writing gets better and helps me like the characters any better, which is highly unlikely. The Harfoot's and Galadriel kill the show just with bad acting and writing alone, despite all of the other plethora of head-scratchers. Oh yeah and they completely destroyed Elrond. As I watch more and more videos on the world preceding LOTR, and all the connections, I'm liking the Rings of Power more. I'm excited to see where it's going. And I'm 99% sure 'the stranger' is Gandolf. It would certainly explain his connection and affection for the hobbits, who I'm guessing descended from the Harfoots.
Honestly not too hung up on them breaking lore if it remains true to the spirit of the original work. Tolkien's whole theme was comparing light to creativity/ goodness and dark to evil / destruction. The blessed fire is the source of creativity and what Melkorth sought. Tolkien was clear that he wanted his stories to grow, and inspire more creativity. To change from one bards telling to the next.
i stopped watching when i saw black dwarf that lives in caves and never sees the sun light or almost never yet is black ? did the melanin on her skin become dark because of all the Sunlight in the caves.. my 10 year old was laughing hard at this since guess what.. the kid knows his science so even though this is fantasy he could not swallow it. cant fool the kids now days if they know their stuff.. yes i felt like a very proud father the other day 🙂
