Join me in my Hearts of Iron IV Let’s Play as the German Empire. We’ll be bringing the Kaiser back to power and fighting against a Europe that has almost universally adopted fascism.
I discuss my reasoning and strategy as I play, thus this walkthrough could serve as a tutorial or guide.

Nice Gameplay
🙂👍
I think you should puppet Hungary, annexing them to Germany would be weird.
Maybe Transylvania should be puppeted as well, if you want to reduce the size of Hungary, but not give it back to Romania.
Give Transylvania back to Romania and Puppet the rest.
Maybe do a exchange with Italy if possible. You get Triest (access to the Mediterranean Sea) and they get a part of Hungarian ?
The Tiger tank got expensive bc you added cast armor as well as sloping armor, so you had 2 +20% production cost increases plus that heavy cannon and 3 man turret
You should just puppet Hungary and let them keep their Transylvania since giving it back to Romania makes no sense since they where twice your enemy.
After Britain does that one focus that solves the situation with the Allies faction, you should annex Denmark and Luxemburg, which are small nations, so I would say that complies with your minimal annexing rule. After that, go take Alsace-Loraine from France, because your the German Empire! Of course you have to have that!
With Hungary, Give Romania their former lands back and puppet the Hungarians.
I know you went with the naming of the type of ship but could you rename at least one battleship to be
Glory unto the Kaiser?
Just be cool thing
Also I think you should either give all of hungry to Italy besides that little bit they took from Romania
Or take hungry proper for yourself and then with give the remainder to Italy or return the rest of Romania to Romania
I think you should definitely do a puppet state and turn them into a Monarchy. And give Transylvania back to Romania. It would be nice to have a little buffer state. Great Content by the way
I just wanted to give out a pointer, if you invited Austria to a faction in about 2 weeks, they would vote for annexation and you could annex them without going to war and gain cores on Austria. I personally think that for annexation wise, you should annex all of the lands of Austria-Hungary as that is rightful German clay as well as the Lowlands, Switzerland and Denmark as historically the Lowlands and Switzerland were apart of the HRE and Denmark even offered to join the German unification if they could retain control of Schleswig-Holstein. P.s. could you please rebuild the historical legendary ship called the Bismarck which was the unsinkable ship and pride of Germany during WW2 which struck fear into the Allies, if you could please build it before you cross the Atlantic that would be a huge bonus as theoretically Otto von Bismarck founded the German Empire and this ship was named in honour of him.
The heavy tank design i think is fine, expensive but thats what your going for anyway. My only concern is that the reliability is too low and its a bit expensive to be replacing.
The Small Cannon Turret also reduces your Piercing stat.
Everywhere I've looked for recommended heavy tank designs, and I agree, says to not have Reliability lower than 90% for heavy tanks. The cost of losing them to breakdowns is way too high. So I like to aim for 90% or better. I'm content with 4-6 km/h. I've found Welded Armor quite satisfactory in combat for my tastes.
I'm sure this comment is too late for your plans for Hungary (I rarely watch these things this early after posting anyway) but if not, here's what I'd do (note: the basis for this is probably not historical, but simply to make a pretty map)
If I were dead set on puppeting Hungary, then I'd probably annex their far western state, and then give Romania their former lands back as well. Basically just leave them with Budapest. But then I'd also give them that snaky part of the former Czeckoslovakian land (spelling??? I didn't get any spellchecker suggestions for it…) to Hungary as well.
Though to be fair, maybe that little finger of land might not be such an eyesore after you deal with Poland.
Gamewise, I'd always have to look and see which states grant the most resources (especially if they're ones you're always short on) but I know from watching you that it's really not that big of a deal even though that seems kinda crazy to me (I don't own hoi4 just like to watch it)
