if you go from grc to chronos you ll get the reputation in aestrin up to 60k+ becuase chronos is in aestrin region, something like a colony… then you can get missions to DC and when you arrive you ll also have 60k there too… Its a shame not to complete the game now that you are so close even if nobody is going to watch it
— There are no maps of Chronos, so you are never getting one. Your reputation at Aestrin will hit 60k when you get there. It's closest to DC, but very tricky to sail there from DC on account of the winds. Fast in the other direction though. Sail to DC from Chronos, and you'll finish the game with 60k reputation in each region. No need to keep grinding the stuff you've already seen, when you have the big endgame challenge staring you down.
– Remember the headwinds all the way from GRC to DC? The winds from Al Ankh blow to the northeast. Make use of that. Sail NE until you hit the right latitude, and then the winds should blow you all the way east. Measuring latitude is also much more accurate than measuring longitude, so once you get to 38 degrees lat, you just need to sail straight east and you'll get there.
– The only stars you need to know for navigation, especially to Chronos, are the North Star and Witena if you really want to.
Witena is easy to locate and visible for more than 5 seconds per night, so you can take a reading from it that isn't completely fudged.
All other navigational stars are completely useless east of DC, and pretty useless everywhere else too. You're better off using the chronocompass, the sun compass and your clock.
The sun compass combined with the clock gives you a very precise reading of exactly where you are on the map, the way no other instrument can. The chronocompass is good for a quick and dirty longitude check, but can be off by a degree or two. Sun compass + clock gives you your location to within a quarter of a degree. The time in Aestrin at local noon, Chronos time is 10:32 am, Chronos being 88 minutes ahead.
– Load up on a lot of rum, snake oil fishing hooks, and several boxes of lamb. Enjoy!
I kept going with the Kakam and getting used to running a twin mast. Just the wind and weather has not been kind so far, but it's mostly my fault for leaving the first port with no missions. Challenging but fun!
