I’m using two pencils, moving them quickly and lightly over the surface of the paper to create the heather covered hills in the background of this illustration from my Scottish Garden Seasons colouring book.
I adjust the angles of the pencils when ncessary to add more purple or cerise to certain areas, such as more purple around the top of the cottage roof.
I’ll add more details once I’ve coloured the foreground of the illustration.
Scottish Garden Seasons Colouring book contains my original illustrations, patterns and designs, hand drawn in pen and ink. The pictures are printed on one side of each page.
The Scottish garden theme is based on flowers from my garden in Scotland, Scottish coastal flora, and exciting outdoor adventures in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter seasons are represented throughout the book, along with individual pages highlighting special occasions – two hearts for Valentine’s Day, Easter eggs and bunny design, Hallowe’en theme, festive holly and Christmas tree.
Flowers include thistles, heather, gorse, teasels, rhododendrons, snowdrops, daffodils, fuchsia, violets, daisies, fairy lanterns, sunflowers, germander speedwell, sea holly, autumn hawkbit, winter wolfsbane and Scottish flame flowers – along with a squirrel, dragonflies, owls, birds, bees, butterflies, ladybugs and other little creatures.
