In “Lies, Politics and Democracy,” FRONTLINE examines how officials fed the public lies about the 2020 presidential election and embraced rhetoric that led to political violence.
An epic examination of former President Donald Trump’s influence on the Republican Party, the documentary presents startling details from GOP insiders on how the indulgence of Trump’s authoritarian impulses and embrace of his rhetoric enabled his power over the American political system, leading the nation to a precarious moment in which most Republican voters now believe the lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
Told in part through the perspectives of key Republican players and party leaders, the two-hour special provides first-person accounts from those who sounded the alarm about Trump, and those whose warnings were minimized or silenced all along the way.

Speaking of 2016, can we please see a documentary showcasing how Hillary Clinton very blatantly and clearly stole the nomination from bernie? Are we allowed to talk about that or pretend like it never happened?

Finally someone has put something like this together. Trump's presidency turned out exactly as expected, worse actually. This film cuts through all of the gaslighting and conspiracy bs. He is exactly what he always appeared to be to any rational person, an appallingly inept, personality disordered crook and con-man.
Think about the childish name calling Trump does. One of his favorite things to call his opponent is "loser". If Trump is calling others losers, he must think of himself as a winner. So how, in his mind, does Trump lose an election except by the other side cheating? Trump will never accept his loss because he does not have a firm grasp on reality.

Too little, too late, Frontline. You helped make this sick monster a President of this country, and now you try to pretend you are truth-sayers who… "Oopsie! Oooh my! We made a booboo, dinn't we… We didn't see the red flags sticking out and tripping us so we fell flat on our faces every 5 minites. Oh well. Hindsight is 2020. How could you expect us to see any of that?" But the truth is you all knew what and who he was, and you pretended his continual lies were worthy of being reported as plausible. All of you along with every politician in this country who stood by and did nothing to stop it happening, you are every bit as responsible as any one who supported him by giving him money and/or voting for him. You people st Frontline and the News Hour all make me feel sick. You betrayed the people of this country, and you have betrayed your own integrity. I will never, ever forgive you for what you have done, and I will never again trust or recommend you to anyone for anything. I will never again trust you or your reporting. You are sleazeballs and hypocrites. And you should apologize on your knees to every citizen in this country for deliberately and knowingly misleading them. And then you should retire permanently in abject shame and never be seen in public again. Thanks for nothing.
