El Salvador Intensifies Crackdown On Gang Activity After Deadliest Day In 30 Years



El Salvador national police say they have arrested more than 2,000 people in just four days since the country declared a state of emergency because of a spike in gang-related violence. Human rights groups are concerned President Bukeleโ€™s crackdown is giving way to human rights violations.ย

  1. They are going harder and harder on the gangs. Is it working? Does this death rate seem like it's working? Compare these rates to the truce. It's not even comparable. As much as everyone hates the gangs (I do as well, I've been robbed twice by them) revenge isn't the goal. It's helping people and this isn't helping.

    Having an iron fist doesn't stop violence. You wanna know what stops violence? Less inequality and more jobs.

  4. I'm sorry a lot of people go to jail in America and didn't do anything so I just save for the people that were caught in the area where the games be look like a gang member smell like a gang member arrest them get them off the street

  6. Anyone defending gangs should live in the gang infested neighborhoods – just even 1 day… then they would be begging Bukele to lock them up. Pappier, give it a try.

  8. Itโ€™s working, I see no wrong with what the President there is doing. They need to do that here in the United States. Human rights? You wanna talk about human rights when these gangs have zero sympathy for the civilians they murder everyday.
