Just read the Atlantic Ocean is extremely warm. However, there have been 0 hurricanes so far this season and just 3 named storms, 16 predicted. 6-8 hurricanes predicted. Another above average number. From what I've seen their numbers are all over the place regarding accurate predictions. In other words, they don't know.
I think a lot of these people have 2 degrees, one in science and one in political science. That way they are proficient in covering both critical aspects when it comes to government grants. They don't use a weather vane to see which way the money wind is blowing.

It was claimed that geological records proved that the gulf had stopped in the past and in a 10 year period we were plunged into an ice age, they just didn't know at what point it stops as salinity drops.
