In the Iya Valley in Japan there exists a village where the human population is outnumbered by hundreds of scarecrows…

Lovely. Ed Gein would had loved going there for a picnic.
Don't go there to take acid…
… I have the feeling this would be the perfect town for Stephen King to live in…
You've got me intrigued Fascinating Horror, but I want to know more.
Why is the village population declining? Why aren't more people coming in? Why did she decide to start making them? Why hasn't a horror film been made about this concept?! So many questions…
Fascinating, but I fail to see the horror in it.
I know producing these videos is time consuming and takes a lot of effort, but I can listen to your voice and stories for hours. You are my go to last videos at bedtime because your voice is so soothing and engrossing, your interesting topics and your compassion and humanity whilst describing tragedies that any of us could unknowingly find ourselves facing. Thank you
The scarecrows are beautifully made – very expressive and individual. Miss Ayamo creates touching memoirs of the people that lived in her village. She is an artist.
A real life Yami Shibai story
The village now has 350 dolls scattered throughout. There are fishermen, students in classrooms, gardeners, etc…
Looks like the sort of place Tobe Hooper would design.
I think the scarecrows would make me want to move out faster
Reminds me of in I am Legend when he's talking to the mannequins. Its just sad.
We have a 2001 movie called "案山子" (Kakashi)… good one if you like this kind of mystery "(^ . ^)"
When this horror movie appears on Netflix next year they better give you credit for the title. 💀
That is a woman holding on to the memory of that town with what made it memorable for her. The people😢
I'd move there.
The residents aren't actually moving away, the nice old lady is really turning them into dolls. The last remaining citizens live in fear of when she will come for them, but if you try to leave your doll-fate will come faster so you must wait and hope another is taken before you.
they absolutely come alive at night time and hey, that is okay, i will stay as far away as they want me too
Bad joke coming. Q-Why did the scare crow get promoted? A-He was outstanding in his field!…Urgh
NGL she sounds like a fromsoft boss in the making.
If i came across here not knowing what it was, i would think it was a House of Wax horror type situation and shimmy on out of there asap
I can't speak to what exactly this woman is feeling, but this really makes sense to me as a mourning ritual, especially if a lot of people are just leaving and there's no grave or ashes to visit. It fills the emptiness of the village and gives a point of connection and remembrance with each person who's gone.
I did something similar after one of my foster kittens passed away. I had to return his body to the shelter and did not receive any ashes. There was no grave site to visit. He was just gone. Eventually I got a little plush cat who looks like him that helps me fill the void.
If I lived there this would make me leave
What a cool idea.
She’s the reason it declined lol
Could be a horrifying place if it's in a Doctor Who universe
Makes you wonder if there isn't some sort of mental illness at play here.
What a shame. Looks like a charming place, otherwise.
That's awesome. The perfect place to be right now….
I've heard this story before she's building scarecrows to replace the people who have moved on left or died eventually it'll be a ghost town full of scarecrows
Female Japanese Robbie Rotten.
Thank you for sharing
Sad and sort of cute
It can look kinda creepy but honestly, they are really well done, it shows her amazing craftsmanship! I would say they are even cute! She could open a doll store!
There’s something very sinister about that woman
0:24 ah she met with the good dr. i see, guess she wont be here much longer!
Wonder if any of those scarecrows are haunted. Scary
I'd move, too, if some crazy lady is putting creepy dolls everywhere!
There is no way that people are actually leaving that town, nobody can leave that town, those that try turn into scarecrows. One woman can't make all those scarecrows unless she's a witch casting spells on REAL people who then become scarecrows.
