midoria, how come your mom lets you have two lancers?
I always thought Sokka was more of the Lancer. But I can see why Zuko is here.
I was born in the 80s and watched the 1980's Turtles, but damn do I love the 2003 TMNT.
I protest the exclusion of Capt. Rex.
sadly, Hunter(tOH) probably won't get the change to lance to his full potential due to the Disney boss's jerkass truncation of season 3.
Omg This is the first time I’ve heard literally anyone else say please stop shipping Lance and Kieth of Voltron. I thought I was alone for so long. I really like this show at the begging a lot but the fan base got so annoying I couldn’t finish the show, which made me really sad cause I was having such a good time
Like Magic has the color system, everyone is a lancer to everyone in scooby doo. Fred is White, Velma is Blue, Daphne is Black, Shaggy is Red, and Scooby is Green.
You picked the one specific character trope most likely to have a second place anxiety… and then ranked them. Why are you evil?!?!
Putting Rukia and Renji as Ichigo's Lancer dealt massive psychic damage to me,
like i get Renji i guess. But Rukia is The Smart Guy way more than Uryu. Because while Uryu is Smart Rukia doesnt oppose Ichigo like at all. and Uryu is often opposed to how Ichigo does things due t the inherent differences of their methodologies due to the intrinsic differences between Soul Reapers and Quincies
OKAY but Ford was completely justified to be mad at Stan!
I feel the need to point out that in Star Wars, there isn't really any Geneva Convention. We have a Geneva Convention, but those are actually pretty new in the grand scheme of things, yes there have been codes used during wars, but they required everyone else to agree to actually follow them. Which, putting it lightly, didn't always happen. Upshot, while yes I get the whole, oh X-person broke the Geneva Convention by doing Y-thing… I still think it is important to acknowledge that there isn't actually a Geneva Convention-equivalent in universe.
Elementary is probably my favorite show of all time and I get so much life from hearing you guys talk about it, because hopefully that means More People Will Watch It. Comments section, please watch Elementary; it's the most aromantic piece of media I've ever encountered and I will be chasing the high from the Sherlock and Joan relationship for decades. At points it makes some extremely 2012 decisions but I have never, NEVER seen a platonic relationship portrayed SO well.
Kevin in Alien Force suffers from continuity issue cuz in the original Ben10, there was an episode where kid Ben and Gwen went to the future where adult Ben (now Ben10,000) becomes a stick up his ass workaholic hero and one of his villains is Kevin11,000 so yeah, Kevin is bad in the future so they had to make him bad again in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.
Civil War was a Tale of Two Lancers.
As far as Hunter goes, the only real 'lancerly' episode that comes to mind is when he and Luz spell themselves into Belos' mind. There were some moments before that, but that episode was the first time we saw them interact in a relatively not-hostile way for a whole episode. And yeah, he was a good lancer for it.
I feel like you can't call Bakugo from the beggining of BNHA and the later part the same character.
Young Bakugo is a school bully.
Late Bakugo is a child-anti-terrorist spec op solider with like 5 deployments.
Bakugo is still shouting about being a rival, but he doesn't really care. He's a hero with a job to do, just like Midoriya
Garrus Vakarian (Mess Effect series): S-Tier
For The Last Airbender I'd say Toph is the lancer. Aang is open, carefree, and adaptable which is why he picked up Waterbending very easily. He had a tough time learning Earthbending because it requires you to be the exact opposite of all of his qualities, which Toph personifies. She is also consistently sarcastic/snarky to him and gives off the loner vibe.
And for the episodes where Zuko is apart of the gang he does a great job, but I think Toph gets my spot as the Lancer because the duration she held the role.
One small defense of Piccolo post Saiyan Saga, is when he lectures Goku on Gohan not being a fighter and Goku choosing to hang the fate of the world on his adolescent, pacifist child's shoulders.
I assume the segment for bakugo and todoroki contains manga spoilers for me as an anime-only watcher?
11:33:33 That is the most Mashima sentence I have ever heard
Oof, I feel Rengi got a bad rap from his early appearances because the movies and his sporadic appearance in later episodes alongside Rukia as well as getting a good number of episodes devoted to seeing his development really built out his character far more than many others.
Rengi grew into a really confident and powerful soul reaper who was able to at least be able to keep up with enemies alongside Ichigo, at times even demonstrating a creative combat sense that exceeded Ichigo's at times.
He also emotionally matured by miles, (I've only read as far as the middle of the battle in Soul Society where a certain Soul Reaper unleashes his Bankai for the first time though I'm pretty sure that is very nearly the end.) growing into a responsible, thoughtful and resourceful soul reaper worthy of great respect even among Captains of the Gotei 13 rather than the impulsive and possessive punk he was introduced as.
They also do a great deal to show that Rengi and Rukia had grown up together and he was always seeking to improve himself to be able to protect her initially because she was his best friend and at the beginning of the series his dislike for Ichigo is because his actions resulted in his Platonic best friend Rukia breaking Soul Society laws and it is only much later that his reasons for wanting to protect her grows slowly into something more.
I will concede that almost every character outside the main cast exists to teach Ichigo and friends some kind of lesson about good or evil.
So… yeah.
Not related but I honestly want to see you guys do a video about Adonis and all that happened with that Hymn
In a fun reversal Frodo acts more like a typical lancer by trying to run off alone
Kinda pulling a less shitty sasuke
If spock were the captain and kirk were the second, spock would have fired him
My brain pushed aside everything I had previously retained about Fairy Tail to make room for other knowledge. As soon as Red and Indigo started rattling off names and traits, everything flooded back at one and now I can't remember how to tie my shoes. Someone please help.
We stan RDJ Holmes.
Wow, the Sasuke disrespect
Damn those are some uh…some takes on Bleach. Wrong takes you might say. Setting aside the other characters, Uryu Ishida is so, so painfully The Lancer to Ichigo.
Man the Naruto segment was kinda rough to sit though. It was really clear they hadn’t watched the show in a while.
I remember not caring much for Sasuke when I first watched the series when I was younger, but rereading the series when I was older really made me appreciate his character a lot more, and as whole I would consider him my personal favorite. There’s a lot more nuance and complexity to him than a lot of people seem to see at a surface level where they just boil him down to ‘LOL emo boy sad that he had to watch his family get murdered and found out later his entire life was a lie’.
