Ok so The Predator is back with a prequel called Prey that preys apart the prior films and adds new context to what’s previously come before.
After the critical flop The Predator, Prey presents a stripped back and bloody outing for the ultimate hunter that reminded me a lot of Far Cry Primal.
Gonna be lots of words that begin with a P and R throughout this video but come with us as we dive into the movie and break it all down. Ok so I feel like Prey completely strips back origins of the Predator and to me at least, it completely retcons the Vs franchise that there was against the Xenomorphs. Which, yeah, good.
Now we don’t know this for definite but this is seemingly the first time that the species has ever travelled to Earth. To me this is apparent by the face we catch the Predator clearly studying our food chain to determine which species is at the top of it.
However this might not be the case as upon seeing the ship at the beginning of the film, Naru says that it’s a thunderbird. This is a creature in Native American Culture that had several different meanings and it’s an almost god like figure that can bring either joy or destruction. Knowing what we know in the context of this movie though it could have became a legend due to the aliens constantly travelling to the planet for their regular summer vacation. I’m recording this video before the actual release of the movie online so if Director Dan Trachtenberg has clarified this then make sure you drop it in the comments below.

Either way I love the moments where it watches over animals hunting others and after it kills the one that comes out on top it paints itself out as being the best.
This movie is filled with scenes of animals and humans running with the Predator constantly chasing after them so it can show its the ultimate predator. They are it’s Prey and as the tagline says they hunt to live, it live to hunt.
That’s a badass tagline too.

I really thought that she was Aubrey Plaza. I was waiting to see how she was doing to kill the Predator with Sarcasm!
I would’ve liked at the End Credits of this movie, the Feral Predators tribe comes down to retrieve their fallen brethren and rewards Naru for her victory like in the second Predator!
For me this was like a dream come true.
When I was a kid watching predator 2. When he got the 1715 pistol at the end, I always wondered if they'd show how the predators got that.
Really satisfying after all these years and terrible predator sequels.
This is predator 3 for me and I don't give af what anyone else says
So..i cannot find a single comment at all on why the predator doesn't bother to cloak when losing against Naru and jz kill her immediately like how it kills her brother..

"Naru saved from a bear by the Predator." The bear wasn't even a threat to the Predator, demonstrating that the writers don't understand the species. 😂
Ending has some serious Monty Python Black Knight vibes.

Midthunder did an absolutely amazing job in this movie. She had a great mix of vulnerability and fearlessness and I hope her performance gets recognized and she gets offered more acting jobs. I really enjoyed this latest entry into the predator canon and hope they have more in the works.

Naru was such an annoying character. Constantly seeking validation, and a little on the prissy side for someone so enthusiastic about hunting.

The helmet sequence at the end was confusing. How is she controlling it? How does it suddenly ricochet? If it's seeking biomass, a tree is biomass. I would rather have seen her produce a small mirror, a real treasure for a native in the 18th century, perhaps from a trapper. Aside from this, the film should have gotten a theatrical release. It is excellent!
(Some symbolism I thought, perhaps unintended, is when her brother is skewered and hoisted up on two prongs, it looks very much like the Sun Dance.)

Come on now better than the Arnold Predator is pushing it. It was a pretty good movie even though Naru kinda pissed me off a bit a few times. Overall it is a pretty decent predator flick.

but notice that the predator face's nowhere near the same as the predators of the future meaning Naru maybe provided some kind of dna for them… remember predators change their dna to become stronger.

I like how ruthless the predator was in this one
It was a decent movie, but what is the explanation for the predator not knowing how his weapon works? Seems weird to use a weapon of which the targeting system is gone and which already failed the predator earlier in the movie.
The movie needed a male lead or at least drop the cringy teenager girl doing 1v1 and 1v4 against men, wanting to prove herself being bullied and underestimated by jerk tribesmen, and killing a Predator against all odds. I mean it makes it hard to be believable to the average watcher.
When she was asked why she wants to hunt she replied "because you all think I can't". I mean that's so petty and self-centered. It's hard not to dislike that aspect of the movie. Other than that it's a good movie; the Predator fight scenes are great.
Why does everyone hate AVP so much? I mean it was a good movie and enjoyable crossover, I feel like it shouldn't get the hate it does. Only commenting cause in the beginning you mentioned it.
