  1. They honestly need to switch this to a single (global) rollout. My experience with deleting and recreating toons during a release has been very problematic. Characters that do not get properly deleted then you're unable to recreate it in the new server, loot that gets lost or you're unable to claim (then weeks going back and forth with support,…). Amazon Games is setting themselves up for a lot additional (unnecessary) work with all the support tickets, and we ( players) are a demanding bunch, we want everything solved in 5 seconds. =)

  2. I can see why this has a bunch of people in a twist, but is it really that big a deal? Guilds will do what they need to to secure their name and they have been provided info on how to do so. Player names are always a crapshoot in MMOs.

  3. By encouraging and telling people to go to the EU servers when they go up is basically helping and contributing to making the experience for people actually in the EU terrible. We are going to get absolutely screwed for 8 hours or so while the whole world tries to fit into a server capacity designed for just the EU and people actually in the EU, you'll get your names, and then f off back to your own region and have a much better launch experience because it will just be your region trying to get in

  4. Absolutely worst implementation of name reservation for any MMO launch ever. That said, I believe this is 100% intentional. They've already set servers up in a way that they can merge them for low populations after launch. One of the biggest issues with server merges is managing all of the character names and forcing players to have to rename if it already exists in the server they're being merged with. Same with guilds. Now, they can merge any time they want with no impact; just reset ownership of each town and fort and done.

  5. Don't assume that you need to be up at 2.00 am EST to get your name. It may be more like 3.00 am or later. With everyone getting names on the EU servers, could be very long queue times.

  6. The funny part is that for the guild names one player needs to create two characters on two different servers.
The first for his character name reservation, the second for the guild name.
Then he needs two play this character till he can create the guild.

When you then want to create the guild on the NA server he needs to logout his NA character with the first characters name and (now I'm guessing) log onto the second EU character where he needs to delete the guild. Then you should quickly try to create the guild and hope for the best, maybe prayer will help.

  7. Not sure who would do it but be careful that while you might clog up the EU servers to reserve your name you will still need to delete the name, switch server and jump into the queue during which someone might get logged into your server and sit at charater creation just waiting to grab your name.

So you can choose to log into another regions server but it still doesn't guarantee you will be able to get your name on your actual main server of choice if someone really wants to grab your name.

Personally, I would want to make sure I am ready to get onto my preferred as soon as possible than run the risk of not only getting stuck logging into another regions server but also get caught in a big queue on the server you want.

  8. "locked to an account for a short amount of time even after a character is deleted"
Got to wonder how much a "short amount of time" is. Hopefully a couple minutes max and not more than an hour. I'm not partial to names, so I sure wont be staying up at 2am before launch lmao. I'd like to wake up at 7:30am fresh with some toast and tea waiting for 8am to roll around. Best of luck to you who choose to reserve names!

  9. So what you're saying is that European servers are going to go down for hours while people try to reserve names and guild names that likely wouldn't have been taken anyway lol

  10. F**K – Do you think people will just "make a char" to secure the name?? Of course not!

Europe will have a f**kercluster of cues. Thx Amazon!

How hard is it to reserve names in a seperate data base if you deceide to make a staggered server up-spinning to elevate the stress on the login servers??

Just bind account number and reserved name. Not hard to do for a 1 person develoing team let alone a multi-million dollar company!

  11. This is going to absolutely ruin EU servers due to the 2500 character cap per server. How many thousand NA players are going to populate EU servers with ghost characters? It's absolutely woeful planning from AGS.
