You should also watch the new All Creatures Great and Small series once you’ve read the book… it’s really good! I haven’t watched the 2nd season yet but hopefully it’s just as good as the first (hectic English countryside vibes)

All Manner of Things was such a wonderful book! I have loved all of Susie Finkbeiner's books! My favorite book, the book that make me cry and the biggest surprise is "Devotion" by Adam Makos. It surprised me because it is a military history non-fiction book that literally broke my heart and I did the ugly cry with this book. I would probably say it's one of the best books I have ever read! My biggest disappointment of the year was "Where the Crawdads Sing". I heard so many rave reviews of this book and I had high expectations but they quickly fell flat. My favorite new to me author is Agatha Christie and the book that made me happy was "Sea Glass Cottage" by Irene Hannon.
I just finished All things Bright and Beautiful for the June Buzzword challenge. Both books have made me laugh so much. They are funny, warm hearted and have beautiful descriptions of the landscape. With its episodic chapters and quirky characters it reminded me of Anne of Green Gables in a way. I have All Things Wise and Wonderful to start in a month or so. I am taking short breaks between them.
The Home in Mitford series is amazing, hope you enjoy it! I’ll be adding All Manner of Things to my TBR.
I was going to say we should buddy read Hitchhiker’s Guide, but I’m not ready to get into it quite yet 🤷🏼♀️

Hi! I understand about sexual content in books being disappointing. I mean, I really don't want to read about someone's private life in that way in my books, lol. I think I'm still going to read the second Finlay Donovan, as I have it out from the library, but thanks for letting me know. I'll have to see about it, if it is too much for me as well. I got some good recommendations from this video, so thank you!

I DNF a book just recently due to the sexual content that was at the beginning of the book and it is suppose to be one of the books that everybody loved that has read it this year and has come out just this year or maybe last year. I did not like it.
Your other books sounds really good though.
The Post Office decided to lose my Book Outlet Order so I sent them an email and they are Re-sending me the books I never got on June 17th.
One of the Books that was in my first order – they no longer have it in stock so they are Re-funding me for that book.
It’s not Book Outlet Fault that I did not get my Book Outlet Order – it’s the Post Office Fault in my town!

1. Best book you’ve read so far this year: Oh, goodness. Um… The Gold in These Hills? Rose Among Thornes? The Words Between Us? UGH. No idea.
2. Best sequel you've read so far this year: probably the latest Jacqueline Windspear? Maybe? Oh, no! Rotten to the Core by T.E. Kinsey
3. New release you haven't read yet but want to: Well, Shadows in the Mind's Eye is one, but I've got dozens. I'd say right now. Just this second… The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip. It's taunting me.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: Um… maybe Withers Farm… Disappearance on Wither's Farm? Something like that
5. Biggest disappointment; Phantases by George MacDonald. I had no idea he could write something I didn't like.
6. Biggest surprise: A Place to Hang the Moon (if the Melendys and the Pevensies shared cousins, it would be this family).
7. Favorite new (debut or new-to-you) author: Janice L. Dick with her Happenstance series
8. Newest fictional crush: no thanks

10. Book that made you cry: I don't cry. I'm cold and heartless. Or something. But I don't cry. If I did, I'd guess it might be the one I'm reading. When Stone Wings Fly by Karen Barnett
11. Book that made you happy: The Love Note by Joanna Davidson Politano. It had some hard stuff, yes. but I LOVED what she did with the "love note" and how it was so unexpected… also because the end. NOT your run-of-the-mill happily-ever-after.
12. Most beautiful book you've received or bought so far this year: Ugh. I can't remember, but maybe one of the "Things found in books" ones I got. Maybe?
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year? All of them. Need to read all the bookness.
I just read You've Got Murder simply because the title sounded so much like You've Got Mail. LOL
Hitchhikers guide was great when I was 14 or 15 I don't know if I could do it now! It's wacky!

I heard your reason for doing a DNF on the Thirteenth Tale. I'm on page 208 and the sexual stuff you referred to was very short lived. Maybe you still wouldn't like the book but if you still own it go to page 113 and read the paragraph that starts with "Why recall the picture now?" Its about Vida as an author but could apply to readers too. I thought it was very well written and have found a few passages in this book like this.
Loving “All creatures great and small” . Writing is lovely and I am listening to audio. So well done… dialect so charming. Highly recommend!

You are doing great on your goals!! I have a number goal on goodreads and I am a bit behind on that.. but not so far that I can't catch up. My other 3 goals were the read your bookshelf challenge and I am half the way through. Read 12 classics I have done 5 but one of them was Les Mis so I am okay with that. The last one was to read 12 non-fiction and I have read 6. So That one is good too.
I haven't watched You've Got Mail in years! I should do that before you come up with prompts.
You're on top of all those goals! I think letting go of a goal is completing it if it's because it doesn't work for you or you've realized there's something better. And on top of all that, you discovered some new things, like that reading one fiction book at a time is more enjoyable for you and a new trial approach for TBRs. Yay you!
I have not been great at reading new releases. I want to read Shadows In the Mind's Eye too and Jaime Jo Wright. I've read more new releases than I thought I would this year so far, and want to read more.
I found "All Manner of Things" as a free Kindle Unlimited book…I can't wait to start it ❤️

Ok, so since I am watching this in July I am going to include what I have read in July (even though that is just over mid-year):
1. Best Book so far:
"Scythe" by Neal Shusterman// I really enjoyed the creativity and the characters in this first book (it is a trilogy). The basic plot is that an A.I. called "The Thunderhead" rules the planet and has thus advanced humanity into an age of utopia living. Humanity has conquered death but there is a need for death (too many people & only one planet). Therefore a society of "death angels" was formed to permanently kill those who have been chosen. It is complex because who has the right? Why would anyone do that? The ideas and material presented were bold and challenging (so I felt) and I enjoyed the energy and conversations. I sincerely wish the author had kept it a single book because he ruined it with the rest of the series 😭
2. Best Sequel so far:
Easy, "Anne of Avonlea" by L.M. Montgomery. I am so happy that you have inspired me to re-read the Anne series as it has been such a wonderful experience and I love when books become "real" if you know what I mean (and the Anne books do).
3. I don't have a lot of "new releases" in my book life
4. Most anticipated new release…and the only one in my book life is the New Keeper of the Lost Cities book coming out in November
5. Biggest Disappointment:
"Light fall: Shadow of the Bird" by Tim Probert // I don't want to say any spoilers…
6. Biggest Surprise:
"4.50 From Paddington" by Agatha Christie// It was my first Agatha Christie and I didn't know if I would like it or not. I was happily surprised with it and I gave it 5 stars

I want to continue to do the "Read Your bookshelf" challenge (using actual books I own & not bought for the challenge)
I am reading a "classic" a month so I want to continue with that (I started this little personal challenge in May so I had to read extra classics to cover Jan., Feb., March, and, April…but I am now on target).
My other goal is to empty my Library TBR and my Physical at-home TBR so I can build a new one!!! I have DNF'ed & donated a lot. My desire here is to have room to read more peacefully instead of feeling anxious because I need to read a,b,c (which I've been feeling like that lately).
Lastly to finish "The Odyssey" by the end of the year
