No Man's Sky Shuttles Overhaul Idea Mobile Scrapping and Auto Pilot Captain Steve NMS Wishlist

No Man’s Sky Shuttles Overhaul Idea Mobile Scrapping and Auto Pilot Captain Steve NMS Wishlist – Ships right now feel a bit too samey, no real need for a shuttle, this video gives ideas for ship perks and missions to help make sense of having a mixed fleet of ships to add some depth to ship choices.

  1. i think that you should have to enter a shuttle and hauler from the side or back and see an interior…i know your video is about shuttles but my haulers cockpits are like 5 meters off the ground…as you would say…how the fudge do you hop into that!

While that would be funny that he sighs and instantly turns into a grave marker… A better idea would be to use the Shuttle for it's purpose.
Maybe you decide to scrap the ship but now you have to fly that pilot to a nearby post or the local Station, or even to the Nexus.
How that can be expanded on:
Maybe the pilot gives you a special thing for meeting his needs (location, time limit, etc) or you can decide to strand him at the risk of Reputation.
(The last one only works best if Reputation actually means anything… But you get my drift)

  3. yeah, we do need both a ship type and multitool type overhaul. As of now, most multitools are just collecting dust in their cabinets. What if certain tools couldn't have certain tech equipped or had other unique bonuses…? As for ships, their bonuses don't make them stand out enough and the increased cargo space of the hauler isn't enough to justify it in most cases, and the increased shields are just a joke because of how often you find shield batteries when fighting. The only players who care about the cargo bonuses are those playing in survival/permadeath or builders who horde tons of building materials.

  4. Great ideas. We're at a point where ships should become very specialized instead of just all ultimately becoming really all the same thing when fully kitted out. Perhaps if HG is planning to develop a ship overhaul, this could be part of the package. However, I'm betting HG is very apprehensive about making any significant changes to ship design as it really is the bread and butter of this game.

  5. An idea for a future video might be to discuss changes to the way warping currently works. One thing that has NEVER made sense to me is best illustrated with this scenario: If I'm on my freighter and I want to warp to my settlement from some other point in the galaxy it is impossible. Either the distance is far too great, or even if I can warp 6000 light years or more with my freighter, the galaxy map will only plot 750 or so light years per jump. So to get to my settlement, I have to use my freighter's teleporter and then once in my settlement, call in my freighter then use my settlement's teleport to get back on my freighter. This is so counterintuitive, but no one seems to talk about a way to make this whole process better.

  6. I think waypoints should be something you can pilot back to with a marker – I assumed that was the case when I started playing. Why isn't it like that? That shouldn't have anything to do with shuttles, however.

  7. They should make the shuttle good for industrial stuff – fit it with its own refiner, or give it an aura that acts as a power source – there are lots of things it could do that would make it a useful exploration and construction craft.

  8. Being 'that guy' Cap have to say not a fan of the scrap idea, ok if it kicks in after you have maxed out your ship inventory then 👍 more power to you but…. yeah? nah! Also thought you might have gone the other way of wanting the ability to build a shipyard on your base? Make it an end game construction materials requirement hmm that could work?

  9. More marvellous ideas! Love them. Shuttles need more of a purpose! All the ships do I think. I definitely agree with the waypoints from planet side it fascinates me why they have never given us the ability to click on it in the discovery screen and it puts a beacon to where it is on the planet for us to find again

  10. I've always felt that shuttles should primarily be used for transporting people. There could be an installable upgrade for shuttles that is a "passenger cabin" that would allow it to go on special shuttle missions. The missions could be bounty hunting live criminals and transporting them back to the space station for detainment. It could be shuttling NPCs to an adjacent system through a dangerous part of space. Shuttles could be the space taxi service and prison transports all in one.
Haulers should have an installable "reinforced cargo hold" that enables delivery missions of large or delicate cargo. They would be less susceptible to pirates.
Fighters could have an installable "shield piercing rail gun" or something that could attack ships without having to take their shield down first.
Living ships should have an autonomous mode that lets them fly to destinations on their own and they would passively consume resources from your inventory as needed.
Exotics could have an invisibility shield that lets them perform stealth missions and escape easier.
Solar ships could have a "Silenced Cargo Siphon" that lets them pirate goods from ships without having to destroy them completely. Every shot rewards you with resources from NPC ships, Freighters, and Frigates.

  11. I agree with almost everything you said. There's some solid ideas to flesh out a ship type. I think the bonuses should be more clear and maybe shuttles (due to their size) get a bonus to maneuverability like haulers do to shields or fighters do to damage. From a programming stand point I wouldn't take out hyperdrives but maybe get a debuff to em instead on shuttles cuz really they're an "in system" ship so they should keep the reduced launch cost and maybe also have reduced pulse drive cost (they don't already right?). I like the scanner and scrapping ideas the most, would make a lot of sense for shuttles.

  12. if your gonna bring up coordinates and auto pilot, you might as well type in the cords and the ship flys you there, so no messing about with planets compass. how your describing the use of the shuttle is like an exocraft, personal use and does a function. like converting the shuttle to a exocraft system. thus you can nominate a shuttle to keep as a exocraft.

you can role play all those those also, force yourself to use a shuttle and its capacity. but the scanner for them sounds like a lost opportunity for the actual scanner. but the exocraft should be doing the duty for the maps in the fist place, so you land and use an exocraft. the maps are cutting the middle man and marking the map, for quality of life.

But i do like the idea of the game having its own missions for Class ships. like outlaw missions with outlaw ships. and deep space missions with explorers, which is kinda forcing you to have at least one ship for an opt in feature.

there needs to be more of a mining exocraft that could also double as a scraping unit and is way larger than most exocraft and can pick up a ship. like in GTA you can get the helli with a magnet and can pick up a vehicle and take it away same premise. like you call in you shuttle and it hauls it back to the freighter and you can scrap it there. with that notion there could also be a Scrapping Frigate and its job is to scrap and you can get the ship there and scrap it and also send it on scraping missions. therefor scraping for you.

a shuttle to me is like in star trek, a people mover. might as well have "pick up traveler and drop off" like a NMS taxi mission. also like GTA when you are in a taxi you can take taxi missions.

  13. We should be able to fly our freighters, in my opinion. Make them absolutely cumbersome but fast in a straight line. That way they don’t make ships obsolete but can allow us to fly within a particular system.

Thanks Captain of the Steve’s, heck yes.

  14. one thing you said here gave me an expedition idea. People have enjoyed doing the no started ship challenge for a while now. they could start you off in a drop pod exiting a freighter and when you come to on the surface you walk out of the drop pod and your first thing to do is gather stuff to access the drop pod backpack upgrade.

  15. The original intent was for shuttles to be the economy vehicle. But since money is so easy to obtain that is a moot point.

I agree ships (and exo craft) need an overhaul to give them more specific abilities. Making the shuttles a mobile ship scrapper is an interesting idea.

  16. Meh. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Shuttles aren't really there for players to use, they're basically just thematic decoration and algorithm filler. Their value is being super cheap so a new player can boost their inventory slot count relatively early.

  17. I would love to see some diversity brought back to the ships in a future update, honestly I also think Exos need some love too. There really isn't a need for shuttles, lets be honest, they are ugly for the most part, and I am not talking half of them are ugly, most of them are hideous. Other than being cheap there serve no real purpose. Also for as much as I like the new update it really has made the explorer rather pointless as well, before it was you ship for long haul Hyperdrive jumps, there really isn't any point now with freighters being able to jump around willy nilly and being able to scan the entire system on top of it. Maybe if there was an explorer exclusive component that would recharge the warp drive or if freighters had to have a cool down timer on warping , but I haven't used my explorer at all since the latest update, specialty ships have kind of lost the reason of having one, and that goes for the shuttle as well. Fighters are still there for the Min Maxers who want the highest damage, but Solar ships can fill that roll pretty easily and get bonuses for having a special tech. Haulers at least still have absurd storage at least, but why would not just use an Exotic or Solar at this point for pretty much anything at this point, and that is mostly what you see flying around save for maybe living ships?

  18. Hi captain!

Liked the ideia, but i think, maybe instead of a ring around the ship, we can have some friendly sentinels getting out of the ship and going in the direction of the derelict one.

    Keep the great work captain!
