  1. As a Pole, I really appreciate how you make the complicated history of the region understandable for the people from other parts of the world. In every country we are taught our version of the history, so it's great to see someone who tries to talk about it from an outside perspective, with respect to all parties involved, but without blaming or whitewashing anyone.

  2. Here's a recommendation: summarize two years of Russia Ukrainian war. From its start to it's present. And also give view point about what would happen next. I mean I haven't followed the war very actively. Kings and generals did cover it monthly but man who would 10-15 hours of videos. So ya please look in it.

  3. Mistaces i found :
Lithuania wasn't part of Kievan Rus.
Monglos didn't conquer transylvania but conquer more territories north .
    Isn't Muscovy liberated ourselves?
Crimean khaganate formed due to collapse of mongols .
They were called tatars since mongol comquest .
Lublin union was due to Livonian war .
Zaporochians was very multicultural ,they also have serbs and turkic peoples for example, not only ruthenians .
There was two cossacks ,First author says about-zaporhichian cossacks ,second-Don cossacks and they have many differences.
Not only protect, but also raiding tatars .
They didn't eliminated serfdom ,it was still represented, but under new management.
Tatars have fouth on they side for money, they didn't fear cossacks befomes too powerful .
It was called both Tsardom of Moscow and Tsardom of Russia .
It wasn't little print it was very important part of treaty .
Alexis didn't ignore it and cossacks have privileges and authonomy ,they will lost it under Catherine the second.
A little mistaces with PLC borders.
    Swedish claimed polish throne.
That's treaty literaly started civil war in hetmanate .
They control parts of hetmanate which have been loyal to them .
Russia het Kiyv due to this peace treaty .
Ivan the.great and Ivan the territories are from 16 century .
Ruin have happen in 17 century .
Later Russian empire used pan slavic rhetoric, not Tsardom or Early empire.
    They was succesors .
    Byzantines ,not just romans .
Expect one time ,during Ivan the terrible .
He declared empire ,not rebranded .
Some mistakes in Russian borders .
He united hetmaanate during great northern war with Russian support .
    Between Sweden and coalition.
Wrong borders between Sweden and Russia.
Peter don't take autonomy from cossacks.
Mazepa was very loyal to Peter .
He betrayed not because loses and authonomy, but because Peter give him an order which he can't did without killed by other cossacks .
Order: evacuate the cities and use burnt earth tactic .
Cossacks were too independent to leave ,and hetmanate was very depended on agriculture. He can't do this order.
Pyotr Orlyk don't made a rebellion ,his forces was mostly ex Mazepa loyalists and tatars ,and he started march from ottoman empire to which Swedish and Mazepa loyalist escaped .
What Catherine wanted to erase ?
During Catherine cossacks became part of Russian army forces ,they weren't recruited.
    Ethnic Russians and Ruthenians .
Russian empire used not only Russians but Ruthenians (Ukrainians) and Armenians .
8:48 Russification already was ,after this uprising Russia start oppress national intelligentsia.
Modern Ukrainians don't ,,slowly started call yourself "
They have divided between two identities, and Ukrainian identity was more successful.
10:00 February revolution is a democratic, not communist .
Author maybe confuse this revolution and coup in November also known as ,,October revolution ".
Provisional government agreed on autonomy and Ukrainian units have been created .
When they declare republic and independence after coup in Petrograd due to which provisional government collapsed .
    Communists don't capture all Ukraine.
Skoropadsky started coup, Germans don't put him in charge .
12:37 Ukraine also have a civil war with multiple factions .
White army don't invade Ukraine ,they started offensive on Ukrainian territory, but which has been controlled by communists .
And Entente started intervention in south of Ukraine .
    Too oversimplified.
Ukrainians and Whites started offensive to Kyiv to liberate city from communists .
It was successful and whites started offensive towards Moscow ,but in a battle of Oryol ,they communists street counteroffensive and with more soldiers defeated whites and Ukrainians.
    Then started soviet-polish war .
13:15 This famine started due to collectivization policy, not just out of nowhere .
    Ukrainian intelligentsia, not nationalists .
Maybe national-communists ,but they were loyal to Stalin.
There was no special ,,ukrainization policy " ,it was part of ,,korenizachia" -indiginization policy .
Stalin don't consider Ukrainians and Russians as the same people.
He reversed this policy ,to centralize policy around one nation and due to Russians was more ,than other peoples ,this centralization was around them ,but don't benefit Russians itself ,only he and his power .
Banders wasn't leader of OUN ,he one of the leaders ,when OUN collapsed into tro factions .
Melnic was antisemitic and nationalist ,but was more moderate than Bandera .
    16:08. ,,liberating" .
    Communists never liberate anyone .
Crimean tatars were deported to Kazakhstan.
17:18 Nikita Khurchev don't give Crimea to Ukraine it was made by Malenkov .
But Kruschev appoint Ukrainian national-communist as leader of Ukraine and reversed Stalin's policies which lead to little Renaissance of Ukrainian language and culture .
    Too oversimplified.
Nothing about Khurchev policies towards Ukraine.
Nothing about Breznew who was Ukrainian ,nothing about very important changes.
Nothing about Chernenko ,nothing about decadence of soviet union, failing of Breznew policies .
After Chornobyl disaster ,one who blamed was workers of station ,while government try to saying peoples ,that nothing bad happened.
19:16 it was towards communism ,not towards Russia.
    Why Germany isn't united ?
    Kaliningrad?
And nothing about events in Russia which lead to dictatorship .
Putin didn't try to join ,Eltsyn try ,but can't due to multiple factors.
United States were neutral toward Russo-Georgian war .
Some politics even supported Russia .
Yanukovich declare that he wanted to join Eu ,but due to putin ,declare that Ukraine will.not join .
He has been elected with this rhetoric .

  4. In 30 years of independence, Ukraine has lost (sold and destroyed) all of its heritage. But someone needs to be blamed. The same is true for the former Baltic states: Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

    1) Ukraine did not exist until the 1919s. And the people living in those territories were called Ukainians because they lived on the "Empire's Edge", the former Russian Empire.

    2) Nobody banned the language, as well as spelling. On the contrary, it was the Bolsheviks who began to promote it to the masses. Even people living in the city of Lvov (the Western part of today's Ukraine) were outraged that they were forced to write in Ukrainian, when their native language was Russian. And this is only an isolated case, if you look for information more carefully, you can find many such evidences. 3) When the USSR collapsed: The Ukrainian SSR left the USSR as the second largest economy in Europe. Why? Because there were many enterprises, factories, plants for the production of heavy industry, aviation enterprises (new aircraft were created and built, as well as engines for aircraft and helicopters), a tractor plant in the city of Kharkov (this plant also created and built tanks for the army). 4) You mentioned that Crimea was given away, that's good. But you forgot to add that the Ukrainian SSR also annexed the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. These regions were annexed because there were many fertile lands there, on which it was possible to engage in agriculture. The same thing was done with Western Ukraine, after the wars more and more lands were annexed to it. Because Lvov is a former city in Poland.
And regarding Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

    1) On the territory of Abkhazia, since the collapse of the USSR, there have been conflicts between the local population and Georgia, since Abkhazia, according to the laws of the USSR, was a republic, and could secede from Georgia in the same way as Georgia itself did with the USSR. Because of this, a conflict began there. And Russia supported Abkhazia, at the request of the government of Abkhazia.

    2) Regarding the invasion of South Ossetia. This is a lie. Russia did not invade, Georgia started it, and Russia conducted military operations to protect the civilian population, and because Georgia was still close to Russian troops on the territory of the Russian Military Base. This was also confirmed by the EU countries, that Georgia started the conflict. And not because Russia wanted it that way.

Regarding NATO. Back in 1991, the United States agreed that it would not expand NATO to the East. But starting in 1993, former Soviet Republics began to join NATO. This is unacceptable. In Russia, they don't like being lied to. That's how all sorts of current showdowns began.

  5. 19:41 I like how he just says but NATO expanded anyways while glossing over the FACT that those eastern European countries joined NATO of their own volition because of continued attempts to assert control on the former Soviet republics. GTFO Russia has been the aggressor in all of its history, and when it gets checkmated they cope

  6. Greate video, but the Ukrainian language is much older, the first works written in Ukrainian appeared hundreds of years before the Aeneid. The Aeneid is considered the first work of the classical Ukrainian language, and before that time the Ukrainian language also existed, but it was less structured. It has always dominated the Ukrainian territories.
